Well my Hub assemblies on my 99 are starting so make a whining kind of noise, which I think is due to lack of lubrication in them... The grease has finally started to dry up. The hubs are still nice and tight and when I checked the wheel bearings they weren't loose at all... But the squeeking noise is driving me insane!

So I started looking at the Hub assemblies online and I can get a pair of them on ebay for 150 bucks plus shipping, To me that seems really cheap... The ford dealership wans almost 400 bucks a piece for them and some of the ones on ebay are a bit more expensive like 215 which could be higher quality? :icon_confused:

I am not sure what to get cause I want to get good High quality replacments in but cheaper is better. What have you other SLA guys got as replacements? Should I try napa?

Also can I just order a set for a 2000+ ranger and eliminate the hubs? or will I need Axle shafts and other parts as well to make it work?

i just did mine, real easy to do. napa has them for 160 a piece. i would rather pay for some quality for a part that important. after the brakes are pulled off, disconnect the abs sensor and vacuum line. remove the sheild on the back side of the knuckle, three bolts, tap of hammer on old hun assembly. Then reverse process. it can be done in a few hours!

oooo, almost forgot. there is a snap ring holding the cv shaft inside the hub. theat needs to be removed otherwise the hub aint coming off

are you sure the brakes aren't just dragging? wheel bearings usually make a growling noise that comes and goes when you turn and brake.

check how worn out the brakes are and push the calipers back to see if the noise goes away

I bought those hub assemblies off ebay. They were like $180 for both shipped. I have had them on the truck for about 10,000 miles and they seem to be doing fine. I use my truck for long distance commuting and off roading, and it has seen plenty of both since I installed them. We will see how they are after about 50,000 though.

Well they are brand new brakes as of last year, and every time I spray water or some wd40 up into the back of the wheel bearing it stops for a bit.

But I'll check the caliper and collapes it seeing as they weren't replaced.

northern guys should take note that this gent is not in the rust belt. our results may vary, considerably. Damn rust.

Well actually my truck is reletivaly rust free anyways, but the dirt has settled into the threads soooo... yeah...

But now that I think about it... I am thinking it may be a brake... cause my truck pulls to the right when I Hit them hard but the sound also only occurs with the hubs locked weather its in 4x4 or not
