hey i have a 1996 ford ranger splash step side and i was wondering what is the widest wheel i can fit on the rear and on the front? thanks for the help.

How low is it? That will play a big factor in wheel fitment. Plus if you want to "move" things around in the engine bay/inner fenders.

I'm dropped 5/6. I have 15x8 rims with -11mm offset. My front tires are 225/60's and the rears are 275/60's. I do have an axle from a Gen II Ranger in it that is 2" shorter then the Gen III. I do rub slightly in the front on dips in the road at speed. I measured the rear last year and was planning on 10" wide rims with 6.5" of backspacing. For your truck, you should be able to do a 10" rim with 7.5" of backspacing. The fronts, people have used 9" wide rims but I'm trying to stay at 8". I like to have a little room to play with.

i do not have it lowered yet, once i get the wheels and tires, i will lower it

I would say no wider than 8" after lowering it 2/3", and after that I don't have a clue lol.

Lower it first, you can "almost" always get rims to fit a drop. It's hard to make a drop fit the rims. My 15x8's in the rear didn't clear with the stock rear end with the 275/60's. They worked perfectly when I first dropped the truck a couple inches, but when I went all the way it was scrub city.

The offset of the rims is going to be VERY important. I've heard of people getting the 9" up front, but not sure about the 10.5" in back. You need to do some searious measuring on your truck.
