Fiberglass caps with a reinforced roof are expensive. Aluminum is much cheaper and harder to find. Not to mention a lot noisier to camp in.
Since caps have seemed to have fall en out of favor, I’m sure it hasn’t helped the prices any from when I got the one the 2011 and the one for the 2019. And resale value is absolutely horrible if you want to ever get rid of one. Getting someone to pay $300 bucks for a used cap is a miracle in itself.
