Not looking to start an argument, as I know there are strong feelings on this subject. Just thought it would be interesting to see the statistics. So what's your favorit RBV engine?

Having driven a 2.3 Lima, 2.9, 4.0 OHV and 4.0 SOHC, I must say that the 2.3 Lima is my favorite simply because of the modability factor.

I didn't include the 2.0 because it is the same motor as the 2.3 Lima, minus some power. The 2.5 counts as a 2.3. I also didn't include the diesels because they are too rare.

3.0 only other ive driven is the 4 banger and it makes me appreciate 2 more cylinders. Plus the 3.0 is hard to blow up, i've been trying for 5 years now

Arguments here? Certainly not! We are a very civil bunch here, thank you very much.

Over the years I've had two or three 2 liters; three or four 2.3's; and currently own three RBVs, which have the 2.3, 2.8 and 2.9 (all driven). And we have a B4000 at work that I drive occasionally. Never had a diesel or 3.0, though.

I don't dislike any engine that came in the RBVs. My favorite is the 2.3 Lima, and my least favorite was the 2.0 (not a bad engine; just too anemic). I do like the power of the sixes, especially the 4.0, but not the gas mileage although the 2.9 isn't too bad.

My current Lima has over 350,000 miles, hasn't ever broke bad (1 timing belt & 1 sensor), and it gets relatively good mileage (around 25 / gal). My second favorite is the 2.9; it's a good balance of power and gas mileage.

I have heard a lot good things about the 3.0. And occasionally you hear a little bad about every engine type that RBVs used. For a lot of folks, their favorite engine is the one they got.

I kinda like my old 2.8, if it blew up tomorrow I couldn't complain one bit after what it has been thru. I got it Durasparked and it is running better than ever now.

You forgot the Mazda 2.2L diesel and Mitsubshi 2.3L turbo diesel back in the 1983-1985 models.

I love me 2.9L because it is torquey as hell. But I also liked my 4.0L SOHC. But since I still own the 2.9L I voted for it.

I own a 3.0 and a 2.9 and have driven a 2.3, but I voted for the 3.0 cause it seems to move a lot faster than the 2.9(maybe too worn)

Love it or hate it ..2.9L
Never had any issues other than valve cover leaks.Good little engine.

Sorry, can't answer that. Any motor that came in an Rbv is ok in my book. Well maybe not the old diesels, I just don't like stinky diesels though.

I love every 3.0 Ive owend, the 2 that Ive had in Rangers and I loved the 3.0 in my old Taurus so much I payed money ($30 cherry picker rental) to pull the motor just to let it sit in my gradge befor the Auto undertaker draged the car away. As far as the 2.9 IMO the 3.0 is hands down better, somthing about heads that dont crack and Valve trains that dont tick and sound like a can of spray paint.

I've always had good luck with 2.9L engines but I find them a bit on the gutless side so my vote goes to the 4.0L OHV.
