what's your 2.9l fuel economy?

roughly 15 - 16 mpg (approx. 6.8km per L) Mix of highway and street.

This just in. :) :

My stock suspended 87 supercab, manual, 4x4 on 235/75/15 with 3.73 driving like I always drive my 4x4 RBVs and never going over 55 netted 23.2 and 22.7. Granted, I really take my time and never ever hurry the truck. Driving lifted BroncoII's will redifine for you what is safe. The truck is almost completely stock except for 6 1.25" holes drilled on teh back and fender side of the air box.

Stay tuned as I get 31x10.5s on 2" of suspension lift...

11 city 13-15 hwy. new fpr plugs wires cap and rotor. i am lost as to why i get such bad milage

i was getting around 23-24 :dunno:
and i have 2 trucks before someone says something about my '04..lol

Well you are in a extended cab, 4x4 and an automatic. That will definately eat into your gas. I don't have a 4x4 ranger but I had a Jeep Cherrokee that got about your mileage with a Chevy 2.8v6, A904 auto and four wheel drive. On those Jeeps if your mileage nose dived or seemed low it was sometimes a case of a Vaccum motor that engaged the front axles for four wheel drive going bad. The front axle would stay engaged and put a extra drag on the vehicle killing mileage. Like I said I dont know the 4x4 system on Rangers but this might be something similar. Good luck!

uuum... my80chevette... maybe you didn't read the first post, but this is to gather information about fuel economy for 2.9l FORD engines in Ranger applications.

I don't give a rats ass about your chevy 2.8v6 or your jeep. try not to spam when you only have 2 posts under your belt.

ON TOPIC: my fuel economy went up to 15 MPG when I changed the #1 spark plug wire that had a giant hole burnt into it from .... something?!.... and there is a noticable different of RPM decrease on the highway.

Damn nice welcome for the new guy...

Sounds a little like a suggestion, maybe he was just trying to help, maybe read an entire post before flaming someone.

that's not the point of the thread.... so I really don't see what you're talking about. if you're not posting your fuel economy on your 2.9l in your ranger then it doesn't really matter... this thread isn't a "help me" thread on fuel economy...

i get 315 miles out of a tank with my 86 5 speed.
and thats with me drivin like a bat out of hell everywhere

At least it was somewhat on topic, I was confused what this had to do with a loud exhaust note at 55mph:

one day you might know what it's like to give it to a girl in the no-no hole... you know, the one where they scream "no! no!" when you you stick it in?!

:icon_confused:

Rape anyone?

God forbid anyone offer suggestions or attempt to help others on this thread. You are to post fuel economy numbers and nothing else. Idle, off-topic conversation will not be tolerated! Do you understand?!

'87 Ranger extended cab 4x4, 2.9L, 5 speed manual, factory limited slip diff with 3.73 gears. 215/50R15 tires. 184,000 miles. Stock- no mods.

22-24 MPG consistently. My truck is equipped with dual tanks. So when calculating fuel economy, I'm able to burn a tank completely dry.

I towed a 3100lbs car four-wheels-down with a 500lbs roll-away tool box in the bed across the United States. My truck also has a hydraulic tail-gate which weighs a lot more then the original gate and bumper. I drove about 65 MPH in forth gear most of the way on cruise control. I averaged 18.2 MPG for the entire trip.

Sorry

WHAT?? i am only getting 10 in the city ='[ any idea why this is or what i can do to change that??

I made a mistake and posted the answer to something without quoting the person I was talking to. I haven't driven my 2.9/5-speed 2wd enough yet to tell what the mileage will be......I'll report back when I put a few more miles on the beast!!
