That's a massive assumption, but I like where your head's at.
I dont know why they cant just stick 400 CI+ big blocks in everything. Screw the govt.
Just one mans opinion.
Oh. You mean the old Detroit diesels. With that logic why not just use 2 stroke turbo & super charged deisel engines in everything...![]()

So why not just ask for a scaled up ecoboost engine?
Cause, at the time i was in an argu....err, debate with some diesel freak. He was saying that there was no way a big block gasser could ever make the power of a diesel.
I said given direct injection and twin turbos like a modern diesel a big block gasser would be right there with them and used some far out modeling to prove my point.
It probably could but it wouldn't be a linear power increase like you probably figured.
Usually as things get bigger you do lose some, other things have to be scaled up more to come out the same and things get heavier at a ratio different than the original non-scaled version. And bigger heavier parts changes things.
Talk to GM about the MDS on 08ish 5.3....
Blew so much oil into the intake you didnt need an air filter
It's definitely a lot better now than it used to be. I'm not against it at all, but it's not a simple system or really an alternative to direct injection and boost. Just another piece to the puzzle of continuous improvements to fuel economy and emissions.
