What's the part called?

Now we know that Ford doesn't carry any of the needed bits to put my truck back together...go figure. :dntknw: But I need to know what the heck one of the parts is called that we are looking to replace.

We know we need a Neutral Safety Switch plug and pigtail, and the back-up light plug and pigtail, that attach to the tranny and a new fuse block. If anyone can help me out with the proper name...

The part in question is the junction box(?) ( where all the wires meet and are inserted into it then) it goes from the engine compartment firewall, to the inside of the cab. The pigtails mentioned before both plug into it. It is kinda like a big plug that has one side on the firewall, and one side inside the cab of the truck. The two sides screw together to lock them in place.

What the heck is the proper name for it? I don't want to sound like a total looney tune, like I do now,:icon_twisted: when I call the wrecking yards checking for parts.

until someone has a perfect anwser i'll guess, bulkhead connector?

Sounds like a good guess to me. But with a 1991, the odds of the dealer having it are not good.

I thought you had a stick. You don't have a neutral safety switch. Those are for automatic transmissions. Perhaps you mean a neutral SENSING switch? They are massively different.

Regardless, I suggest getting all this stuff at the junkyard. Switches are easily tested in the field with an ohmmeter.

Yes I do have a stick, so I will correct my nomenclature. Thanks for clarifying. The dealer doesn't carry anything we need so it is wrecking yard time, as you mentioned.

I am simply wanting to know the name of the connection thing, so when I ask before we drive all the way down to the wrecking yard, I am at least fairly sure they have the part there, and it won't be a wasted trip.

I really miss being in Southern California at times like these...*sighs* I had 15 wrecking yards within a 100 mile radius. Up here, the closest is 50 miles south, then the next is another 40+ miles south. Guess that's the price I pay for living in a very eco friendly state...but sometimes it just sucks!

Thanks Gents for the heads up, I appreciate it. :D
