I have been looking at some body lifts for my 89 ranger. And ive noticed that all the 2in lifts cost more than the 3in. Why is that and whats the difference between the two?:icon_confused:

well the difference is that the 2 inch kit will raise the body 2 inches from it's factory height. the 3 inch kit will raise the body 3 inches from it's factory height. you will see more of the frame rails with the 3 inch kit. maybe be more difficult getting the bumpers up to the same height as they are mounted to the frame and will not 'lift' up with the body. additionally, you will most likely need a shift extension if yours is a manual tranny and transfer case. may also need the steering extension with the 3 inch kit.
3 years ago, i did the 2 inch lift on my ranger and it was more expensive than the 3 inch kit even back then. i think the 3 inch is way more popular, they sell way more of them, and they can keep the price lower because of that. just my guess.
i'm quite satisfied with my 2 inch lift as my needs aren't so much for off-roading tough trails, but lots of miles on dirt/gravel roads in snow and mud depending on the season.
good luck and welcome to TRS.
