What's the biggest towed?

Heaviest thing i've towed with mine, or drug actually was a half to regular cab short bed '01 Dodge 2wd. I was helping my friends at JN Wrecker clean up around the big shop so his uncle could spread out some gravel for us. The little F-550 hook truck was down at the time so Jesse said to me " go get your truck and we'll use it." Little did either of us know after we got everything hooked up we did'nt have the keys to the Dodge so we could put it in neutral. In 4 low in 1st gear i drug the Dodge with my Ranger from the fence South of the big shop to the car port North of the little shop. When I stopped the truck to see if I'd done any good, Jesse had a smile from one ear to the other and said, " I believe thats a Full Pull."

Thats the heaviest thing I've towed so far.

grossed out around 10600 with a 93 ranger splash 4x4 loaded with steel and 94explorer loaded HEAVY front to back with steel heavy load creeped along at 30mph to the scrap yard 25 miles away
yes an hour to get there only could take 1 load so made it work got over 800 for the load

Hey all, I pull a 18.5' 5th wheel camp trailer with my 2002 4.0 4x4. Electric brakes and common sense can go a long way. I had to shorten the rails to fit in the box and cut slots in bedliner to expose rails. I have lots of pictures if anyone wants to see.

Of course we want to see. Post them!

Hmmm, time to bump that tune up a little. The local crazy canadian in my neck of the woods is getting 533hp outta his 08 with the same mods.

I can *barely* break 300hp with my '00 7.3. To get to 500 is gonna cost me alot more.

I have all the spartan tunes including the new 350 hp tune and a fully built sun coast on the way and about to order head studs! :yahoo: With those mods i should be over 600 hp and 1300 lb/ft torque and the reason i said the lower numbers was because i used the 210 two performance tune for some reason on the dyno. :dunno:

Heaviest thing I have ever pulled would be between a yukon out of mud up to the bumper or a 76 fullsize blazer home when the body died from rust. Also made a 1300mi trip from south texas to south dakota when I got stationed there had 1200-1500lbs in the bed it really helped in the snow traction was no issue till I smoked the torson ls with one tire on ice and the other on dry pavement...did that about 400mi into the trip still driving it now looking at a locker :)

It took a couple of tow straps but we got the yukon out 2hi was slippin so did it in 4hi.

Didn't tow it myself, but I work at an equipment rental store and I loaded a case cx36 excavator (approx. 8,600 lbs running weight) on a 2,000 lb equipment trailer behind a mid 90's 4.0 ex cab 5 spd. We would have never let anyone do it except 1. he was going only just over a mile, in a small town, with no up OR down hills, 2. it was his own trailer with Surge breaks, 3. he promised he would be bringing it back with a full size pickup, 4. he had a class 3 tow reciever that we looked over and was very securely mounted (for what a ranger can achieve) and tires were practically brand new.

And I made sure to get plenty of weight on the truck... if he had to stop, I wanted every little move that truck made to affect the trailer, and not have the trailer just pick him up spin him around and pass him by as he tried to stop

ive hauled a couple of big things with my ranger. ive used my buddies heavy duty car trailer and hauled my 89 s10 covered in mud on that trailer and also my 04 dodge stratus on that same trailer. it had to be pushin over 5000 pounds easy. squatted my truck good but pulled it with no problem, up hill downhill from start to stop it did fine. the 4.0 its a beast. also i have hauled my 24 foot 70's camper too. that one was fun.

I haul a 1987 25 ft camper and a 77 18ft ski boat around with mine. You can tell the campers there :) Mine has pretty low gears though. The camper is not really much above my capacity.. its about 5000 unloaded. Maybe 6000 loaded and my capacity is 4500 I believe.

I towed our boat across the marina parking lot - a 1972 24ft aquasport with a deutz 6 cylinder turbo in it - with my 2003 3.0 automatic. trailer had flat tires and all.

also towed lots of trees and bushes out with the ranger... amazing what you can do with 150 ft of 3/8 kevlar line.

this past weekend was my first time ever really towing anything on a trailer. i had bought a bmw e30 a weeke before and was trying for find someone to tow it for me but all else failed, my but by buddy called me up said he had a trailer:icon_thumby: so i went down there, 18ft dual axle car trailer, bigger than my truck!:icon_rofl: then went to south jersey picked it up and back. about 200+ miles round trip 1/2 just the trailer 1/2 trailer and car. my truck is lifted 4'' with the bimmer it was down to stock ride hight!:icon_rofl: was truly scared i wasnt gonna make it. although my 3.0 (yea 3oh) took it like a champ. although i am going to change the fluids this weekend as a thankyou treat. i have pics might put them up later if any1s interested.

i have one of those raided camper shells and i filled it to the top with wood. my mud flaps were grinding on the concrete the whole way to where i dropped it off, very top heavy

I towed an 1500lb John Deere commercial lawn mower on a 10,000 GVWR tandem axle flat bed (for big bobcats). About 3500 lbs total. Luckily I didn't have to go far, and I never broke 30 mph for courtesy towards my brakes. Seems to be no stretch of the imagination though and wouldn't hesitate to do it again.

its funny how stupid some of us ranger guys can be but you know what the rangers can do it young or old. i pulled 8 tons with my 1999 4.0 Ranger i had to do it in 4lo bc it was up a slight incline and it was a 2500 HD chevy flatbed with wooden sides on it full of broken up asphult. i also pulled a 15 foot trailer with 2 yards of dirt, 3 yards of multch. and had 300+ pounds of rock in the bed with a wheel barrel 2 shovels and a second person in the truck. towed that about 15 miles all in 2hi lets just say i stoped at the bottem of a big hill when i saw the light was red at the top. people didnt like me too much. XD. sorry no pics
