What's luckiest break a cop has given you?

I could add about five different threads of different times where I got a great break. That was back in the days, no way today. Last time I talked to a cop - he followed me off the main drag up a side street, 25 mph limit. Got off road pipes and no front plate on the Stang. Pull into the Ford dealers lot and didn't see him behind me. Well he turned in the first drive and came around facing me. I thought, oh boy. He pulled up next to me, rolled the windows down and shot the brezze for 15 mins about the car. They can be really nice if you give them a chance.

About 10 years ago a cop clocked me doing 84 in a 55 driving a semi truck. The guy was cool though and wrote me a ticket for 69 in a 55 and gave me a vehicle inspection. I got court supervision for the ticket so it never showed up in my history.

Why am I glad I got a ticket for 69 in a 55? Because at the speed I was going I could have gotten a reckless driving ticket, had the truck impounded, lost my license, lost my job, and gone to jail. 15 mph and over will get you screwed in Illinois. Yeah, that dude was cool and I'm really glad he gave me a break. I also quit speeding after that ticket, so I learned my lesson.

Cops around here are dicks.

2 years ago i got pulled over on my bike. i came off a stoplight and took an S turn at around 65 kmh. thats about 35 is mph. anyways, cop pulls me over, reads me the riot act about racing! say its a $10,000 ticket and i could go to jail. (just FYI, requirements for a racing ticket are: speeding in excess of 50kmh) now, this was all in a 50 zone. so he gets my info and pulls my record. meanwhile around the corner my friend who was behind me also got pulled over for the same thing. now my bike, maybe could hit 100 in a matter of a thousand feet, but my buddys non SS cobalt? they claimed we took an S curve at at least 100. so about 10 minutes go by and he finally walks back, says he has a domestic dispute call and hands me back my papers, telling me how lucky i am. i just laugh, put my helmet on and head home. (i think the kicker is they were sitting in the local coffee shop parking lot getting their donut fix when they heard my bike)

another time i was coming home from my girl house at around 2 am. couple bike passed me goin the other way doin wheelies. well a cop saw and took off after them. well one ran from him. so a little ways down the road im doing around 80 and a cop comes flying up behind me, so i pull over and kill the bike. next thing i know im getting shouted at to put my hands on my head and get on the ground. well after i was pinned they sat me on the curb and told me what was going on. after a good 20 minutes of discussion, they realize it wasnt me who ran and they take off the cuffs. just when i think its all done with, the cops says "so i dont think you ran from us, but your plate isnt very visible, so im giving you a ticket for a hidden plate. have a nice night". the kicker in this situation is the cop that originally went after the stunting bikes, was the cops who tried to bust me for the racing ticket.

so now, i dont speed, and i havent riden the bike in over a year just for the sake of saving my insurance and licence. ive had that bike to 275 Kmh and once is plenty for me.

i was doing 160km/h in a 100 zone, going through downtown about 8 months ago, on my way to work, got pulled over by the tactical team... (i passed 2 members on the highway) they didn't even ask me for my information, nor my paperwork, and my plate was completely covered in mud at the time too, so they couldn't read that... guy walks up to the passenger window, sees my old uniform and guilts me really bad, tells me to slow down and walks off... they drove off and that was that... if i had gotten the ticket, it would have been in the thousands of dollars, a suspended license, and probably an impounded truck

Driving 105 mph amongst a six pack of semi big rigs and being passed by a state trooper going 120 mph.

being clocked at 147mph by NJ State Trooper on 295 in a 1993 Nissan Maxima lol.....

i was pulled over when i went to get off at my exit and i slowly see a trooper coming up behind me. first words.....That THING shouldnt be going that fast lol....

i ended up having a half hour discussion about the 300zx twin turbo swap that was done into that maxima lol.....

I have never been given a break by a Cop.....They pretty much only bother the law abiding citizens......they cant be bothered with the criminals.......the only time I needed a cop was at 2:00AM in upstate New York. I was getting harassed by some crackhead.......the station was closed.........the next day on my way home I got a speeding ticket while going though a hick town. I was going 30mph. the speed limit was 25mph...........when I got home I took the firearms course and got a gun.........problem solved....There probably has been a few incidences where a Cop has helped out someone...but I have never seen it.....I did see a Statie racing back to the Barracks It was 3:55 pm(shifts over at 4:00) He hit another car and totaled his cruiser. Medflight came in and stopped the highway for 2 hours....the cop ended up being fine.....

only time ive ever been pulled over was in a old '87 f-150 that i had, speedo only registered 85 and he clocked me at 88, in a 55. careless and wreckless ticket and excessive speed. 40 hours of community service for it, and would have lost my license had i not hired a gooooood lawyer. i keep it under 80 now, ha ;)

LOL I dont think that was a lucky break, I think it qualifies as prudent planning cuz you got a lawyer LOL. But it could have been worse, If you qualify for wreckless driving you qualify for jailtime, i guess it could be alucky break. Things make so much more sense when I think out loud.LOL

yeah he was in my face the whole time cussing me out and asking if i wanted to go to jail, literally told me to cut off the truck put my hands on the side and patted me down! (this is all for speeding by the way) and called my parents, which i think he is required to do since i was underage at the time. i had just gotten my license like a week or two before.... you can imagine how pleased my parents were.. hahahahaha

did he do all this before or after asking for your id? Technically if he didnt know you were a minor he can get away with it. And its one of those things like murder, lol, deal with the danger at hand then worry about the details. Speeding like you were (and ive dont it too) puts you in a category with other criminals and makes you a threat. Sort of convicted as an adult before going to court kinda thing.

yeah, he didn't ever ask for my ID now that i think about it, kinda weird. he just asked my age after the whole pat-down thing and when i told him i was 16, he told me to call my parents and let him talk to them, lol

Sometimes when making confrontations like that cops tend to get tunnel vision. Especially newer ones. We did simmunitions training, and I got it bad. Its hard to beat without ALOT of training.

I got pulled over last Tuesday in my work parking lot.......... for doing donuts at the grocery, drifting around the bank, and staying sideways for over a mile through the middle of town with straight pipes 2nd gear wide open (it had been snowing)

The officer had apparently been following me for some time but couldn't catch up in the tractionless Vic. He saw it was just me when I got out of my truck at the shop and hit his siren once and rolled down his window.......

Yelled DAM#!^ little Fred cut that $+!^ out our you'll have every kid in town out here playing. I said Sorry, he goes......... your good, take it easy and sped away.

Frank

lol nice, those are the cops they like to recruit up here, the cops that know when to give people a break because it's not a big enough deal to throw the book at
