I have a huge entertainment stand in my room, it's 5'5 and blocks out everything. I hate it, honestly.

I have decided to build a TV stand myself, since buying one would cost over 100 dollars for a cheap fiberboard one. Couple that with the new TV I'm buying and your at a fortune.

Here's a model I made of it. It's 36" long, 30" high, and 18" deep.
It's so high because it's going in my bedroom, and my bed (which is on the floor) tops out at 20".

And fully furnished (bottom shelves are for DVDs/Video games)
I left some things out because it would have lagged too much.

It's partly (almost entirely) based on a bookshelf I'm in the process of building. This thing is massive by the way, 2x4x4.

So.. whatcha think?

I would say you've got or getting a flat screen...mount it on the wall about a foot above your current book stand project (which looks good, btw)...that way you can have stereo/TV equipment on top (unless you can punch it into the wall somehow) and your books below...

The biggest problem with large furniture items though, is they are hard to pack, move, or otherwise do anything with once you place them in a room...they tend to take over every inch of usable space (especially when space is restricted to start with)...

Unless you've got a huge room and don't plan to move any time soon, that is...

I have a window on the two outside walls, and I have a thing about my bed having to be against an inside wall. It's warmer. That leaves the space across from my bed to be either a window, or a window. So wall mount is out. It's orgionally what I wanted to do, but I still would have needed room for my Xbox, DVD player, and Wii.

You should see my bedside table. Haha. I'll have to get a picture of it sometime.

Bedside table.

Yeah, I have a 6 drawer craftsman tool bench as my side table. And it actually has tools in it. Well, in some of the drawers.

The shiny things are xmas presents I'm storing until I get around to hacking a tree.
