What year did ford push the 2.3l to 143hp?

If you look at ford ranger in wikipedia it states the Ranger has 120hp but then states the current model has 143hp but does not state which year the change took place. Even though I can currently get a new one with access cab for 13k I can't being cheap and wanting to buy used.

In mid-2001 Ford switched to an entirely different 4 cylinder engine, called the Duratec. This one makes 143 hp.

I've been trying to figure out (in no hurry) which truck to get and after driving my buddies 199? Ranger I was convinced they were too wimpy. I'm glad I took another look, I think I will get one newer than 01'. Thanks
