What would you pay for this?
(I want the 8.8 with disc brakes, and I want to turn my 5.0L from a town car into a distributor-less explorer 5.0L)

Thoughts?

This yard also has many old fords. A handful of Dana44's. And I'm hoping some Dana60s

I am not good at my axle Identification. Is this a D44?

See if you can guess what the decal says....

$5-600

First axle looks like an HP D44. Second one Looks like a LP closed knuckle D60, not very desirable.

Thanks for the input. Anybody know for sure what trans is behind that motor? Also, it says AWD on the badge. Does that mean it has 3 diffs?? :( (a diff in the T-case)

I believe the use some sort of viscous coupler in the AWD t-cases instead of a diff.

Believe that they had a BW 4404 which had a viscous coupling between the front and rear. as far as the tranny goes, I forget.

*EDIT* you beat me to it Hahns.

Typically D60s can be easily identified by the LARGE hub that completely fills the center hole in the wheel unlike that HP44 does.

Because that explorer has nothing on the body thats good (typically where the money lies when parting a vehicle) I would not pay more than 500-550 w/O cats, 600 with. And when you get it make sure that who gets the cats is clearly stated.

Good to know about the hubs, thanks. About the cats. We dont have emmisions laws here. Not enough people, lol. So, cats are not a 'hot item'.

Regardless, people still sell them for the precious metals.

Platinum is $2000 per ounce and Iridium is $4000 per ounce. Thats where the money in the cats is.

Domestic cats go for 40 for a small or a preCat and up based on size and brand/type ect. I had a "Large GM" Cat off of a 89 Blazer that I got $150 for. Import cats are worth more. Some BMW cats are worth more than 300.

Aftermarket cats are only worth $12. They are junk and nothing more.

It has a 4R70W transmission.

Uhhh... as of friday's closing Iridium was $420/Troy

But it's been up to $450 this month.

You are right on platinum, it closed friday at $2018/Troy-Ounce

Palladium $452/troy last closing price (friday)
So basically the same price as Iridium.

Rhodium has been to $10,100/a troy ounce and is currently in the
mid-$9000 range.

the last platinum metals, Osmium is around $380 and ruthenium is at $305.

I'm very suprised to see silver at $18.80

I would drive that van/camper looking thingy. That's awesome, but then again I'm an idiot and I like stuff like that.
