show me a jeep as reliable as a toyota.

They both rust away to nothing, woo hoo.

I vote to wheel the heep and dd the Ranger. It would be cheaper (once you fix the tranny) than trying to SAS your Ranger, and you would still have something reliable to drive if you bust something on the trail, which is a very good asset to have.

I don't like any jeeps newer then '84. They suck, pretty much. If you want a good jeep, the 72-up cj's are hard to beat. They also look alot better then those stupid square headlighted POS's. Get an older one, do a 350 or 302 swap, and then you will have a great HEEP. I don't hate HEEPS like some of these guys; I am just very selective of which ones I prefer.

I don't like any option. I say keep the ranger as you have it now, but set the D44 and 9" to the widths you'd run them on it or go a little wider even. Then I would put the axles under the Heep and wheel it until it dies. Hopefully it'll be the engine or transmission that die. By that time your Ranger will be ready to retire from DD status (hopefully that 200,000+ mile mark) and since your axles are already correct width for it you can move them over to it, and proceed to Thelma & Louise the heep. That way and you can eventually do it all.

Oh yeah, I fogot to mention, the D44 and 9" I already got for the Ranger, so it's not like I went out and bought them just for the XJ. Same with the Waggy44.

I'm really thinkin of 44/9ing the XJ. That would be pretty bad ass.

Wheel that Heep while you swap the 44 and 9" under your ranger. Then roll the heep off the cliff and use the ranger. Keep a nice framed vehicle like the Ranger for the axle swap. The XJ would fall apart because of it's crappy unit body.

I'm thinking about DDing it till it has 200,000 or 250,000 miles or somethign like that, and then go all out on it. That thought has crossed my mind.

I have been driving an 89 wrangler since the early 90's at work, its been very reliable. Only real problem has been the carb.
