I picked up a 1999 Ranger as a project, And after getting the engine machined, parts, ect... I think im in it too deep. So far here is what I got.

1999 single cab Ford ranger 5-speed $250
-96 crank, flat top pistons, and rods (Rods are stronger and pistons give me more compression ie MO POWA) $100
-Manley rings $51
-Machine work (Decking the heck out of the block and head to get more compression) $200
-Bearings $60
-Gasket kits (Fel-pro) $100
-New clutch kit $61
-Head bolt kit $50
-Oil and fluids $50

So tha total of around $950 after its done, Yes it has a clean title and under 115k miles, It will be rebuilt with a new clutch and surfaced flywheel. So its all done right, I just dont want to loose on the truck.

if you gave it to me i might drop one of my sbf powertrains in it.

but i dont fit in a reg cab. so to me they are worthless. 2wd is worthless to the tenth power.

2500 seems the going rate for nice shape 96-2002ish trucks like that round here though

You must be big man, I fit in the truck and im 6'3" and 270lbs. Is it as comfortable as my Cobra, Or WRX but still fit with room. No need for a SBF the 4 cyl is going to do the job mid to high 13's in the 1/4 with 25 mpg which is impossible on a sbf unless your going 30 on the highway. When it comes to wanting to hual. My Turbo Cobra is going to get that done. And 2wd is worthless to you where your at, But 4wd is worthless here in Orlando with all our nice smooth roads lol and sunny weather year round...

Thanks guys im not looking to sell the truck just dont want to put more in it then I can get out of it. Seems like im good.

I'm 6'4" 200, and while I fit in reg cab trucks, it's tight. The seat doesn't go back as far as I'd like and the steering wheel is in the way of my knee.

I'd agree, somewhere around 2k for the truck.
