What trans do I have?

I have a 1994 Ranger but it has a 4.0 V6 Explorer motor in it. I know they are generally the same but I don't know what year the Explorer was. Can anyone help me with this?

you can contact any ford shop and depending on whether you have manual or automatic they should be able to tell you where the I.D tag is. that will have the information you need to find out what you have

The year of the motor shouldn't matter at all. if it runs fine then it has all the nessary parts for a '94 Ranger.
We really need a lot more info to help you.
If the trans is an auto, it should be an A4LD.
If the trans is a Manual, It should be an M5OD R1.
It is really hard to say if somebody swapped something else in. Pics would help.

It is a manual. I was thinking it was the M5OD R1 but i wasn't sure. I was just curious because I was looking to re-gear but wanted to make sure I purchased the correct parts. Thanks for the help.

Unless you are regearing the trans (in which we'd all love to know where you got the parts), it shouldnt matter what trans you have.
