i have a delemia. my ranger is hydrolocked and has a dead starter in it. i want to go a v8 swap into which would require a new rear end, new trans, new tcase, and alot of sludge hammer work to make it fit. i recently came across a 94 s10 4x4 thats is already set up for a v8 swap all it needs is a motor. the guy origionaly had a 400 in it. i happen to have a 350 sitting around that would fit it. and i was looking into body and suspension lifts for the s10 and they tend to be $50 or more cheaper then the ranger. my delemia. buy the s10 for $400 and give up the ranger. or go the more expensive route and fix the ranger. what u guys think thoughts? opinions?

the wise man taketh the path of least resistance

Yeah, but the easy route gets you into a GM (general mistake). I say do the painful way and drive a real truck...

u think gm is a mistake? i took a full size gmc sierra into a tree at 60mph and only bent the bumper down less then i inch. my knowledge and my entire family knowledge is of gm. i have 2 gm straight 6s with matching trans. a 300 with trans, a 350, 400, and 6 misc gm motors, if anything mechanical brakes on my ranger im sol and gotta drive to slavage yard thats 40 miles away and get new parts versing 30 yard walk to my barn

and i dont mean a nice new sierra i mean a old 90s one that all its ever known is michigan and michigan salts.

sounds like you have all you need to do the 10 and have parts left over.

I would do the S10, I am not particularly brand loyal. Where in Michitaxistan are you?

You hit a tree at 60 and only dented the bumper.

Michigan has different laws of physics too. Here in Indiana a 6,000# truck going 88ft per second would develop an energy of 722,000ft#. That's the same energy of a 75mm anti-tank gun. It's the same energy as getting hit with 5 shells, simultaneously, from the 30mm Avenger cannon on an A10 Thunderbolt. And all you got was a dented bumper? You need to park that truck in a vault until you work out a deal with the defense department. Once they get wind of it they will probably have a CIA operative take you out so they can reverse engineer the formuation for that GM steel and use it on the Hummers.

Seriously, I would put my Ranger back together if it's a daily driver. If it's a toy, definately do the S10 with the V8. That would be fun.

^^I was just thinking that^^

the 4x4 s 10 needs a high dollar oil pan to clear the front dif

oakland county sound familiar. I know why ....... I go up and down hwy 53 twice a week......... seen oakland county sheriff's cars

you still have the crap s-10 front end when you get it running though.no flex and less strength.you'd need to do a SAS
