So I was just wondering what you guys do about sound deading and thermal insulation. One idea I had was useing some 1/4 hi-des. foam that I placed under my lammint flooring. Idea two is I have strips of rubber mats aprox. 1 foot wide and 1/16 thick. used as a stop skid in my tool box.
So what I want is something kinda cheap(ill be doing two truck most likely), that wont let water absorb(really don't want chance of rust) and kinda insulate the truck in the summer here in AZ. thanks again guys

Well, I pulled the carpet and all of the sticky black paper stuck to the floor, I then continued to use a marine primer and followed it up with a rubberized undercoating. I took my time in that truck and it turned out very nice. I finished by hacking the carpet up into large pieces to make it snap in/out. I also used 1/2" marine hatch insulation on the firewall. It really made a big difference. Now if I can just redo my truck the same way I did it for my buddy I would be all set.

I used THIS in my Camaro.

My exhaust was VERY loud and this helped quite a bit.

It's self-adhesive and conforms real well. Use a wallpaper roller to press it down.

And HERE is a good article using this stuff on a Corvette. This is where I got the idea actually.

I've used that stuff on other things and it works well...but do you really want to stick something to the floor of a Ranger?

I undercoated the floorboards and am also looking for something to both deaden sound and to keep the moisture away...if anyone has pics of how they did their truck that would be nice...

I bought a roll of bituthane (bitchathane) roofing material years ago for sound deadening cars for stereo systems. Works good and is cheap compared to stuff like dynomat. Comes in a big roll and cost something like 90 bucks at the building supply store 4 or 5 years ago.
