so im driveing my exploder today, it had a sputtering problem and i replaced the problem. fixed that. well now i have a new fuel issue. 1/4 throttle its fine, half throttle to 3K its fine, at 3K it sputters like fuel is beaing choked off. if i mash it the truck sputters real bad and wont go past 1K and 25mph. along with this my fuel pump is howling like a banshee. fuel pump?:icon_confused:

oh joy, i get to drop a tank tomorrow then.... its full of gas too

most likely the brushes in the pump are worn, but get a fuel psi gauge and hook it up to the fuel rail and start diagnosing the basics, filter, pressure regualtor ect. if all that ends up testing fine, then its probably the pump.

that was my plan tomorrow at pickins :icon_thumby: ill go in after i get off work, fawk lunch

will do, i shouldve got pics of my fuel filter....it had grey gummy crap falling outta it

was gonna drive it to work this am, it died and fought with it to start got to work, then went class. did a fuel pump. problem solved

I would say fuel filter. If it clogs the pump will cavitate (sp). If you had filter problems before, what ever was in there may not have totally cleared. Had a similar problem when I put in the new tank. It had some corrosion in it. Took a few filters before it cleared up. Good luck.

well i replaced the filter the day before, my guess is the clogged filter wasnt demanding max fuel, so when i replaced the filter the pump that was already bad showed its true colors:icon_thumby:

Very good chance. I'd start with another filter and see if it helps. If it runs OK for a while and then acts up again you've found your problem. I eventually pulled the stock filter added an adapter to the carb an put an larger in line filter until it cleared it's self. I eventually just left the larger in line filter just as a matter of ease. Hope it's the filter, it's cheaper and easier than a pump.
