I've been trying to think of a name for my truck but everything I can come up with sounds kind of lame to me. I plan on getting it cut in vinyl and putting it on the back window or something.
Here is the truck:
l_268452f0e80a4dbebb543017bc90d3df.jpg

what it is:
86 ranger longbed
skyjacker class II kit
2.9 liter engine, maf conversion
M5OD swap, 1350 t case, 7.5 with a lockright, 4.10 gears, d28, (I know it sucks don't remind me)
York OBA, 5 gallon tank, semitruck horns
130 amp alt, dual batts, isolator
custom front and rear bumpers
33x12.5xr15 tires on simulated beadlock wheels
swapped in power windows and locks, along with vent windows.
flatbed, toolbox packed with pretty much everything to fix the truck, bed mounted spare
cab is from an 87 4x2
what is left of the factory original truck has almost 287,000 miles on it

The story behind it (abbreviated)
I bought the truck in 2003 for 150 bucks and 234,000 miles, it was horribly rotted, there was no floor in the truck, the B pillars were collapsing, and the radiator support was nearly gone. Did some swapping and scored a cab in much better shape in the fall of 2004, also ripped the bed off around this time and made my first flatbed. Designed the front and rear bumpers in my BOCES welding class, sometime in the 2005-2006 timeframe, most of the welding was done by someone else because i suck at it. I put the truck on the road after my highschool graduation in 2006 and it has pulled DD duty since then. Built a much stronger and better looking flatbed in April of 08. I swapped out the factory original 2.9 and FM trans in November of 08 for a 12x,000 mile motor out of a 90 along with its M5OD. Lifted it in February of this year and went to the 33 inch rubber at the same time. and this is how it sits currently. I figured the background info would help in the process of naming...

I've never thought much of people who don't have a vagina giving names
to their own vehicle.

Atleast not intentionally naming one, calling the truck a name in a fit
of amusement, anger or drunkenness and having the name "stick" by
concensus is another matter....

So it's a kinda good thing that you can't come up with a name that isn't lame...

there are exceptions... like the taurus we had that seemingly of it's own accord got names "The Turd" (a Friend commented he'd seen turds accelerate faster)

I have never named a truck of mine. My dad had one we called ole yeller. It was an old '72 chevy and was a faded yellow and black. Boy do I miss that thing.

My car is nameless, she doesn't mind
My F-250 was just called Whitey
My other F-250 Blue
My burgundy dually diesel "burgundy bomber" it was on the front window in diamond plate
my 88Ranger- the rust ranger, it was primer grey with black rustoleum sport stripes
my 97 Ranger- The Rowdy Ford, because I blew a gasket on my diesel and took it to a diesel meet, and did a clutch smoking burnout, after announcers "my friends" had got the crowd all pumped up for a 4bt Cummins Ranger, that was coming out to the burnout pit for rubber boiling mayhem uhm yeah, it's a 2.3liter stock with dual exhaust and 200k miles.... but she is now dubbed the "Rowdy Ford"
my new truck will remain naimless, unless I fall into a good name.

Hm, I had VW van that we called "effie", because everytime we turnde around we'd have to say "what's wrong with that F'N van now? or ho much is that F'N van gonna cost this time?". It happened quite a bit and "effie" stuck.

My current truck is named "El trucko" for no reason other than that's what my wife and I started calling it jokingly and it just stuck.

I guess what I'm trying to say is, your truck will name itself when the time is right.

I named my 250 Frampton because it comes alive.

the other two i havent named yet and might not.

I agree. I wanted to give my Ranger a name when I first got it. Not that I have ever named any of my cars before, but it's the nicest ride I've ever had. And also because I knew naming it would piss off my girlfriend, who hates it that I devote so much time to it. But like I always tell her - my truck is always there for me and never talks back to me. Well, not yet anyway, it's only got 25K miles on it. But I agree with Chris, you can't force it, it will just happen.
