Got a high milage 2.5L. Just changed the oil with 10w40 high milage. What weight do you guys run in your high mileage truck?

I ran Valvoline Durablend 10w30 (or 10w40 during summer once I topped 175k.) Had that 3.0L from 74k to 217k. Sold it in 2010 and I think the guy still has it near Albany as his snowplow/ yard truck.

My Subaru has run Mobil1 or Mobil1Extended since 7500 miles. '99 one owner about to tick over 317k this week.

Highlander has used Mobil1Extended since 58k, has 224k now.

Just my experiences, but I won't ever skip synthetics now.

I ran the 10/40 diesel oil in my 2.3 for a while when it started blowing it out every opening. I eventually switched up to 20/50 and drove it like that for two years...which kept it on the road but still burned and blew it like it was free.

In the winter I started using a block heater to try to reduce the strain on the internal parts from the oil getting too thick and it helped quite a bit.

The engine finally blew around July 2014 with just under 400,000 km on it...and now the 2.5 that I have has just over 60,000 original miles...runs smooth...using the recommended 5w30...

Right now mine runs havoline 5w20 semi synthetic. Was running any old conventional I could find. Got 316k on the original 2.3L doesn't burn but leaks from what seems like every seal.

I thought about running the recommended 5w20 but wasn't sure if it would burn it. Just got this ranger so I'll see how the 10w40 does. Maybe I'll go 10w30 if it doesn't burn any oil. Only leaks a little from valve cover and maybe rear main.

I have ran Pennzoil 5w-30 in her and a FRAM filter in her since new.

Just turned around 275,000 with no problems at all

Good to know. Just got this one and it has 268k on it and she runs good as new[emoji106]. What is the recommended weight? 5w20 or 5w30? I live in North Georgia

On my 94 it's 5w30. Not sure about the 2000 but the sticker on the radiator support will tell you.

I live in Texas and I run 5w30 synthetic in my 92.

Rotella T6 5w40 synthetic. It's dirt cheap for synth (I can get it for $12-16 a gallon depending on sales and promotions) and is in a weight range that works for every vehicle and motorcycle we own.

I run 5W30 and a Motorcraft FL-1A oil filter.

Wifes car gets 0w40 Mobil-1 (It's a VW Beetle) and a Pure-One filter. (The Purolator filter Pure-One has high marks and preforms quite well on a german car)

The Explorer currently has 10w30 installed (Dino Oil) and the Motor craft filter (FL-1A)

I ran the Bronco II we used to own with the Rotella 5w40 for several years. Worked excellent and is a very cost effective oil. I took a bit of heat from some of the local yoyo's that only see that as a Diesel engine oil. Until I pointed out the rating on the jug was for both Diesel and Gas Engines.
