I have been getting my oil changed at the dealership but my free changes ran out so i am going to changing it, as i do on every car i own. With being the first owner on my new ranger i only want to use whats best for it. So i was wondering what your guys opinon is?

Do what Ford does... Buy your oil from the lowest bidder.. I know I do! Any automobile oil on the shelf will do the same thing all the others do. It will lubricate your engine. Just purchase whatever weight oil is supposed to be in there.
Big JIm

Use 5W-30, whichever brand you like, conventional or synthetic. I have used nearly every brand there is; like Big Jim M says, I get whatever's on sale. 213,000 miles and still running fine.

There's Valvoline in my truck right now.

I use Motorcraft with a Motorcraft filter...

Motorcraft 5W-30 and Motorcraft FL-1A... Oil brand doesn't really matter as long as you use the specified viscosity... Interval of change is much more important, and you can only TRULY tell how often you need to change your oil by getting it analyzed somewhere... Just use whatever 5W-30 is cheapest and change it ever 3-5K miles...

Let me first start off by saying that your from my hometown. born at grossmont hospital, raised right off Greenfield Road. Did you go to Granite Hills?

I recommend Pennsoil 10w30. I use the high mileage but I doubt thats necessary in your case

I run Motorcraft Synthetic blend and Motorcraft filters in all of my on-road vehicles. It's reasonably priced at Wallyworld. 5w-20 in the Escort and Taurus, 10w-30 (or 5w-30, I forget) in Winstar and Ranger. My Arctic Cat 500 and Honda TRX250X get Rotella synthetic 5w-40 (also good price at Wallyworld, or on sale at TSC) with AC (or Fram) and Honda filters.
IMO any oil of the correct weight that meets minimum specs changed at the proper interval with a good filter will give the best protection.:D

Do they sell the Motorcraft blend in the 5 quart jugs in 5w30 at your WalMart? Around here, the only thing I can get in the large jugs is 5w20.

Wal Mart, at least in my area, does sell Motorcraft oil and filters. Oil avaliable in 5qt jugs too.

I used Royal Purple and a K&N filter.

Again, they sell it in my area as well. However, the only weight available in the 5 quart jugs is 5w20 here. They do sell the FL1A filters, though. Are you saying that you can get 5w30 or 10w30 Motorcraft synthetic in 5 quart jugs in your local WalMart?

According to my brother in law who Works for an oil supply Co. Use anything but penzoil.
He says what ever detergent they use in there oil breaks down valve seals sooner.
He also has several 10.sec quarter mile cars and builds there engines. Any way just a second hand source, No penzoil lovers butcher please.

I'm not a Pennzoil lover, in fact I've never even used Pennzoil. But what he said is absolute nonsense. Pennzoil is just as good as any other oil.

I meant butcher me.LOL Either way like I said. I got it second hand. But I do believe my brother inlaw. Just because he is so anal and is a Genius. Lol. I run Delo

Lol, some guys may laugh but I have ran supertech from walmart for the past few years. Its in my ranger, race car, and my mud truck. I usually buy a Fram filter. Like others said oil is oil and I think thats the truth just keep it changed like you should and it will do its job.

Red Line synthetic w/Purolator PureONE filter.
