What manual trans for a 302 swap?

I have an 02 ranger with a 3.0 and a 5 speed, and I am beginning to ponder the idea of swapping a 5.0 I have from my 86 f150 that I had into it. It is fuel injected but I am thinking of putting a carb onto it. Yes I know, keep the injection, bla bla bla.

But anyways what I am wondering is what manual trans everybody is using? I read somewhere that the trans in my truck should be the mazda built M50d and its recommended to use the heavier M5od2??? from a full size truck. Would the existing 5 speed mount and stand up to the power?
Not building a ton of HP, think around 250ish with the Edelbrok performer package, but not sure yet. As I said, just pondering ideas for now.

M5OD-R2 from a '97-'01 F-series with 4.6l V8 will have the same bell housing pattern as 5.0l(302) and the shifter is only an inch or two off of the Ranger shifter.
I have read you can also swap the shifter plate(top plate) from the above years to older M5OD-R2 to get correct shifter position, not confirmed just read that.

I think the trans support needs to be moved, but it is fine to use.

4.2 F-150. It will need the bolt holes enlarged from 12mm to 1/2".

4.6 trans is completely different and will NOT work with a pushrod 5.0.

Oops, yes, only the first two 4.6l blocks used the small block pattern, '91-'93

Cool. So is the M5od-R2 the same length as the ranger 5 speed, or different?
