Hey everybody..just bought a 2000 extended cab XLT 4x4 4.0 litre V-6 with automatic...have already fixed the infamous drive line clunk...now I'm wondering what is this little red light directly below the fuel gauge..it's not in the intrument cluster behind the glass but in the black trim that is part of the instrument cluster..I removed the neg cable to reset OBD and when I got in my truck this light was on..goes off when you start up and drive but comes on when you turn off the ignition...the owners manual doesn't even mention it.

Wasn't asking for someone to guess

People that post on here are looking to solve problems....the little red light probably does relate to security or anti-theft, but, I bought this truck used from a private party and as such received little information when I asked about the anti theft the previous owner was somewhat evasive and the owners manual really doesn't help either, so if anyone out there knows what the light means and how to get it to got out please reply... thanks

A seatbelt light that comes on after the truck is off and parked? Do I ignore the real seatbelt light with icon that is located to the left of the fuel gauge. This is a three dimentional light with a red lense cover that is NOT inside the instrument cluster, it is in the black trim surrounding the cluster directly blow the fuel gauge.

Sounds like someone installed it manually.

I would look for and try to follow the wires.

Seeing as you don't know everything about the truck you bought, how are we to know what you have? If you don't want anyone's help then don't post looking for help.

Low blinker fluid warning light?

Here's the deal Zeke

No matter what kind of question you post to any forum you get lonely people just trying so have some larky fun with the keyboard, when I say that the light is not in the instrument panel but below it in the trim ,if someone flippantly replies that it is the seatbelt icon that's not helpful that's sad, I have owned two rangers and a mazda b-4000 all had this light but I have never known what it was for... I assumed either towing or security, just thought maybe someone else had one...if you doubt the idocy of most responses you need only read them

If you don't like the free help you can pay a mechanic to check it out.

Could be a check susp light. Or Check Guage?

EDIT...

Did you buy the truck in mexico? Maybe they use something different that US does. None of my Rangers have any lights in the plastic under the cluster.
