It is a black rubber piece that is splined. It came out of my m5od transmission. I took the trans apart like a year ago and i don't remember where this piece goes. Does it go before or after the extension housing?

Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks,

After. Actually it must have fell off when you removed the transmission or something. It slides over the spline and sits there right after the transfer case.

It is a bumper for the rear driveshaft. It keeps the driveshaft from getting shoved to far in. It simply needs to be pushed onto the output shaft before the tailhousing is installed.

Its also sort of like an oil slinger suppose to help keep the oil from leaking past the spline..(so i have been told) some automatics have them too.
