okay you guys remember me? lol anyway i have a 93 3.0 4wd ranger that i retired and was going to do a turbo 3.3 stroker to. well i purchased a 92 2.3 ranger and it has taken all my money slowly restoring since the previous owners beat the living dog mess out of her. i.e. new rear end gears, new transmission, new rear wheel bearings, rear drums/shoes/hardware, new front rotors/pads and bearings, have all new chassis mounts, ujoints, carrier bearing, and traction bars to install, just not the time to do them to it currently. thats for starters on that one as to why u havent seen me in a while. anyway, on my 3.0 truck went out to crank it (havent cranked it in 9 mos...) fires up first turn of the key purrs like a kitten at 280k. well i retired it cuz of no oil pressure/throttle hangs open beyond 60%. drove it to circulate fluid in the transmission, read the gage and full oil pressure, i apparently have a gage issue. the other problem, my coworker to his dismay/my good fortune slammed two rods thru the block of his 2004 3.0 2wd ranger edge. he orders a used crate engine 2 yr unlimited mileage warranty 38k miles on the engine. he installs it, well it came with new intake new exhaust manis the whole nine yards all he had to install was the power steering/ac. i buy his old plastic upper plenum/throttlebody assy as ive read that it will bolt on and breathes better, esp since i cant get my 93 upper plenum (its the one with the throttlebody built in). anyway long story short since i have the plenum off i clean it up and look at the throttlebody, full of gunk, fig what would a lil polishing hurt? i bust out the dremel and clean her up even relieved the step down ridge in it and modify the throttle stop so it will open up the full 100% and not 95%. well after i do this on the iacv there is a sticker that says do not clean the throttlebody/iacv there is a special coating on the inside. did i just screw up? i mean ive never seen this in my life and ive modded a bunch of throttlebodys, port atv heads all the time, was going to do my 2.3 intake assembly as well but ive never seen anything like that listed anywhere. plz get back with me on this one its puzzling the crap out of me.

Mine said that too.

I ignored it, and have cleaned the TB and IAC several times.

You worry over nothing. The worst that can happen is it gets sticky in the shut off position. Keep it clean and no worries! (I cleaned mine with PB Blaster and Deep Creep).

kewl beans ive never heard of coating the inside of a throttlebody with anything, looked like cast aluminum to me hence the polishing. i use brake cleaner/electronic parts cleaner and checked everything out. my plenum that came with my original truck i inspected and found that where the throttle shaft rides in the manifold is worn. it actually stuck on me playing with it, the shaft actually cocked in there crooked. snapped it shut with my hand and worked fine a lil bit longer, still a safety hazard i needed to look into. i actually found out about it the first time when i was going to baton rouge doing 70 had to slow down and taking my foot off the throttle had no effect. threw it in neutral revving its ass off pulled into the median, key off opened the hood snapped it shut tested it and kept going. got home and parked her til i needed to move it when it got broken into. i appreciate the speedy reply.
