What is this called?

There are two vacuum lines at the rear top portion of the air intake box. One has a yellow stripe on it, and runs down underneath the intake connecting to the pre-heater, and the other is routed over/behind the engine, connected to a vacuum port, on the upper intake manifold.
The metal piece on the top of the airbox that the two vaccum lines connect to - what is that called?
Buddy of mine was replacing the air filter when noticed from the inside of the airbox that this metal piece is rusted up bad and wanted to replace it, but auto store didn't know what it was either.

its a bi-metal element and it opens and closes with temperature. You can just take the vacuum line that goes to the engine and just plug it up if you want. Your best bet to replace it is to find one in a junk yard that is in good shape.

I ve got sumthin similar on mine, but the two lines are red andd green and plug into a filter for the egr...

the red and green green lines are different and actually plug into the egr control valve, not a filter. One line has constant vacuum from the engine to the control valve, the other line runs from the control valve to the egr valve and opens and closes the egr based on certain engine conditions.
