What is the least equipped Ranger?

My first three Rangers were "S" models. Rubber mat, vinyl bench, no headliner, no radio. No rear bumper, either- had to buy it as an option. If I recall, I don't think the first one ('85) even had a day/night rearview mirror.

But honestly, I liked those trucks a lot just because they were so basic. And cheap, too. The last Ranger "S" I bought, in 1988 had an MSRP of $6793.00, with $80 for clearcoat paint and $395 delivery, so the final sticker price was $7268.00.
 
When I picked up the 83, I thought it was strange it had power steering, but no power brakes.
 
I think it would have to have power brakes, ABS was mandated about that time.

I think your right. I don't see ho a truck could come from the factory without power brakes in that year.

Doing a web search, It looks like power steering was an option in 96:
