What is the least equipped Ranger?

I was thinking about my 99 ranger 4x4 and the few options it does have and how glad I am that I don't have some (power windows wear out) and that I do have others (power steering).

It got me to thinking and I was wondering how basic of a ranger could you get? Did rangers always come with power steering? What about power brakes (99% sure they did)? Obviously power windows and locks are options. Is AC standard now? My old Land cruiser did have vacuum assisted brakes but everything else has manual including the Armstrong steering.

Power steering was optional on the older trucks, I am pretty sure it is standard now. A/C and tilt wheel was optional too (my '86 parts truck had neither)

My Custom has a steel roof with no plastic coverings along the back wall and a rubber floor, and I love it. It had AC and is 4x4, with PS but manual locks and windows with no cruise.

My '86 XL had no A/C or tilt wheel, but had all the plastic trim with carpet and electric 4x4 with auto hubs.

Ahh.... a rubber floor. I still hold to my standard of "It's not a truck if you can't hose out the interior"

Tilt wheel, I had forgotten about that option. I wonder what year power steering became standard?

I used to have a 1984 Ranger that DID NOT have power steering, a/c, power door locks, power windows. It was a 2.0L 4 speed, standard cab, short bed. It was basicly a stripped down model.

my current ranger is a xl 97..rubber floor 4x4 with a 3.0....no power any thing...the xl is about as basic as you can get

Yeah, my Ranger HAD p/s, p/b, power seats, A/C, 2.9 FI, and a jacuzzi...oh, no jacuzzi...

I stripped out everything when I swapped in the 2.3...

But I've even seen early rangers with no brake booster and no radio...

Really? No power brakes or power steering on a 1997? Cool, I would have figured at least those would have been made standard by '90 at the latest.

My 94 XLT has tilt wheel, A/C, cruise, manual windows, power steering, power brakes, and somehow also has a 8.8" diff.

I'm taking off the power brakes and steering. I like the simplicity of the engine compartment. I'm debating on whether to take out the A/C or not...

my old'86 had nothing, i mean nothing! no power assist brakes, no power steering, no hp!, no ac no tach. it also had a 2.0L engine, but mine had a 5spd... i think that was the only option it had, it even had a badge that said "overdrive" on the tailgate.

My 85 had manual steering and brakes with a wheezer 2.0 and 4 speed + OD manual. It had the original AM radio in it when I got it. I looked around for info on it and I believe they called it an "S".

I think it would have to have power brakes, ABS was mandated about that time.
