What is needed to go 3.0 v6 to a 2.3 turbo???

Hello, Guy's I am new to the ranger world, Real new. About 3 day's. I do have a F-150 lifted 4x4, and 99 cobra So I am a huge ford fan. Im very familar with the 302 & mod motor's. But clue less with the v6's.

Well basically! I have been wanting to build a fox 4cyl turbo, Instead I ran across a very clean 1996 automatic ranger. It is a 3.0 v6, I would like to convert it to either the 2.3 turbo. And would like info. Are they basically bolt in? ect... Has anyone done this with picture's?, link's, Ect... I seached 2 sites and and mainly just found people asking the same thing.

My main thing is I want to stay automatic..

you can put an eaton supercharger on the 3.0 and they make a kit for it that includes everything, i mean i love my 3.0 that is why i would recomend steering you in that direction. that little engine can handle more abuse than aa 3.8, that is one engine i hate more than anything in the world

They make a kit?? where do i get it??

Or is it like the eaton swap on a 99-01 cobra? i have done many of the 03-04 swaps to the n/a 99-01 so that would be a breeze

They don't make the kit anymore so you can only get them used now. They come up from time to time on Ebay.

Btw is the Cobra stcok? and pics would be nice:D

the 3.8 a good motor, just gotta run the updated haed gasket(98+ gasket, 3.8 mustang or 4.2 f-150).

supersixmotorsports has the majority of parts, and http://v6f150.com/ has some good info

4.2l=3.8l,

They were asked for here is my cobra! with the old pulley's now i run cog's

As you can see I like to stay diverisified!

idk i just have a bond with my 3.0 that only a vulcan lover can understand thats why i usually try to talk people out of swapping the engine
but yeah check out that link i posted up there earlier (if you havent already) judging by your car collection you should be able to afford it lol

judging from his car collection, I bet he can hardly afford gas! :buttkick:
sorry that was rude :black_eye:

A 2.3T would be much easier. It will bolt to the rangers tranny. However, the auto's used in rangers wouldn't last long behind one. The manual ranger trannies are fine though.

It's easier and cheaper to get big HP from a 2.3T than supercharged 3.8.

A 3.8 swap will be as much a pain as a 5.0 swap. You'll need a different full size tranny that doesn't fit right, and a bunch of other little problems that 5.0 swaps have.

I recommend 2.3T.

I am leaning alot more toward's the 2.3T, Does anyone have information on this swap? has anyone done this?

Did you read my signature, lol?

I and several other members have done it. I plan on making a write up one of these days if I can ever find time.

In the meantime I recommend visiting www.turboford.net to learn all about the 2.3 turbo engine and how to make big power with it. Visit www.rangersrevenge.com for information on putting a 2.3T in a ranger. Almost everyone on that site has a turbo ranger.
