help: at the back of my 4.0 (1994) on the pass side just behind the distributer pack (sorry Im old school) is a gizmo that plugs into the head, block or manifold it has a wire harness connected to it unless Im mistaken it has crank case gasses escaping out of it where it connects to the engine itself what is it and does it come loose / out? if so how?

I only have a few hrs daylight left

ok I found the part now the problem is the only info I find on it is a replacement walkthrough on TRS but the guy has the engine completely out and thats not an option for me. Would it be possible for the crankcase vapor to escape from here? thoughts on how to seal it in place? or at least without pulling the engine or tearing it all apart?

Crank Vapor can theoretically get out, but the intake manifold is more likely ( I think you mean air is leaking...), the Cam synchro replaces the Dizzy in the cologne family. All us with 2.9's could get one out easy, but then again having the big nice reliable 4.0 makes one weak.. and flabby.

What makes you think it's that?

It almost sounds like you have compression coming out and you are looking for a pressure leak?
