What is behind the ridge on the back of extended cabs?

Hey, I am just wondering what the purpose for the ridge in the back of the extended cabs is for and if it can be taken out for more room?

There is a retractable cargo under some. There is also a small rib of metal to add rigidity ti the cab.

I removed the cover and trimmed back the interior panel to fit my speaker box. There is like 3/4" of dead space between the panel and the wall.

I think he's talking about the "hump" towards the rear of the cab on the floor. pretty sure if you cut that, you're going to have a gaping hole and nowhere to mount the rear of the cab. pretty sure anyway.

Take a look at it from under the cab...I think gaping hole best describes it, but I can't remember...last time I crawled under my truck a girl in a skirt walked by and I was a bit distracted...

I agree, I think he's talking about the hump on the floor (did that last part excite you Mark?).

And, no, I wasn't excited...just distracted...girls don't wear dresses around here much...but turns out the guys have taken to wearing them...so I was curious...the hairy legs gave it away...dang...

had one of those little cargo covers in my '97. One thing I kinda miss about an extended cab. It came in handy more than once.
