need input!

i found a craigslist ad for a 4.0 but he did not list a price so i emailed him and he replied with "how much would you pay for it?"...... so what is a good price for a 4.0, he says its like new and came out of an 04 ranger, so my next question is, is the gonna be able to hook up to the 2.9 wiring harness(i think i know it wont) and do i need a custom eec-iv because i have a trans. out of a 95 (the fully electric auto)

I was looking at some used ones at a junkyard and they all want 1000+ maybe you could lowball him and see how far down you can get him.

There is a guy in town that sell pulled ones for $250.

is he on craigslist, or do you have an email address? because that would be a great price!(affordable)

he posts what he pull on CL, he told me 4.0L go about as fast as he posted them, i have his number some were.
or you can try to search for motors in Newburg.

If the engine is already pulled from the vehicle it will be a crap shoot whether or not you get a good one or junk. I would rather see it still in the truck so I can see the condition of the truck ( was it abused or taken care of ) and maybe even hear it run. Since a lot of them are already out check it over completely. I'd rather pay more for one that I would have to pull VS taking a strangers word on how good it was.

Price? A good one $750 to $1,000

does any one know if a 90's explorer had a dona 35 up front or a dona 28?
i read one of the 4.0 conversion write-ups in the tech section and it said that 4.0 were in explorers so i figured i would just buy a donor truck and swap it that way, but i was wondering can i keep my vacuum type cruise control and my 2.9 ac compressor?
