I am going to be attempting to be buying a 1988 Ford Bronco 2 this weekend. I was wondering if anyone can tell me an estimate they usually go for? It runs and drives. Its original miles are 89,000(probably more now since his wife drives it to work). What are things to look for that decreases its value. His asking price is $3,500. I've done lots of research and a fair price I'm thinking is $2,400-$2,800. I'll put pictures up soon once my I get on my phone yo upload from there. Thank you guys in advance :)

Rust, rust, rust, expensive to repair.

Look in local truck ads see what similar vehicles sell for in your area, and see how long this one has been for sale.

Low miles on a 1988 would be a caution flag for me, either truck has been broke down most of it's life, or it has been sitting, either is bad.
Or miles have rolled over, '88 could have limited odometer

The buyer sets the selling price not the seller, seller sets "asking price", which means squat, lol.
Make the offer and be prepared to walk away, trust your gut.

Thank you :) I really needed that reassurance. Also if he is a reasonable guy with everything I've researched especially with how weak the axles are and the transmission will go out if not babied. Wouldn't DMV's record show any false labeling on the vehicle such as the odometer. Maybe he can accommodate with me and understand where I'm coming from we can both be happy. Because he did have it listed for $3,500 and quickly was easy to take $3,000 for it? But if everything is good with no rust or leaks showing, How much would you pay...

First is rust and rust and then there is no rust. The second is location, location and then location. What is fair is NY is nothing like fair in WA. So research the prices in your area for the condition you are willing to accept.

Do your market research. Vehicle prices change depending on what part of the country you are in.
