I just gave $200 for a 1988 2wd F150 that runs and moved fine... as long as you didn't want to stop. I ended up fixing a blown out brake line in the parking lot and spend about $11 parts. I would still say if I would put your truck up for sale around here I would probably get $500 out of it, but it really depends on where you are located and how long you want to have it up for sale before a sucker comes along and gets it.

iv heard from people just being 4WD its worth at least 500 and id like no less then that

KBB puts the value at 2000 in fair condition witch id say mine is minus the Engine issues

You don't say the mileage so i'm guessing it's high~350,000 kilometers=280,000 miles

It'd probably cost about C$2000.00 [ labor not included] to fix all the problems without doing the body work and paint. I'm sorry but it's probably better for you to part it out, which means the labor to pull the parts and then waiting till someone wants that part. I don't know what scrap value is where you are but here I'd be able to get C$75.00 for that truck. I just bought a '97 2x4 f-150 4.2l 5-spd with good body and paint, running, but with a rod knock, brakes and clutch recently done for C$600.00. That's what the m5od-r2 is worth around here, and then I have a good body to stuff in a big block.
Anyways, good luck,

Richard

Sounds like parting out the drive train would be your best bet. I imagine selling the front and rear axles, transmission, wheels n tires, then the engine would get more than it would sell for. Then scrap the rest of it. I'd hope for at least $1000 USD doing it that way. If you have the time to take it apart and sell the parts it would be worth it.

yeah when you can't drive the truck away and it needs alot of work i have a hard time justifying trying to get a reasonable price for it. Doesn't look like a bad truck, i had one similar it was a 87 f150 "explorer" It was about as long as a extended cab ranger with dual tanks, full size with a 302 EFI and factory off road package. It was awsome, i sold it for 1000 bucks and wish i never would have.

I think I'll put 800 obo and shoot for something between that and 500

Do what others do to cars before they trade them in to a dealership!

Clean up rust, patch holes, cheap-paintjob (rattlecan rustoleum primer and colored paint thats glossy, with 2 coats), fix anything mechanically wrong with it thats within reason, get those hubs workin, and the brakes fixed, and just give her a nice carwash and interior scrub. (maybe pound the dings out of the bed too).

You will spend around $500, but it will make the truck worth a LOT more.

Meaning it runs, looks nice, sturdy, and worth a solid $1k if done right.

Heck, for $200 I'd buy it for a DD once the brakes and engine were good =p
