That doesn't seem to be an issue with the Maverick/Bronco Sport. BOTH of those share the Escape platform, and all 3 of those sale in decent numbers. Meanwhile I was on a FORD dealer lot this weekend. Exactly ONE Ranger for sale, a topped out XLT FX4, $45k, not a single "Low end" XL STX , NO Broncos. Just a bunch of Mavericks and F150s

Been away from here for a while, but when I went to replace my 1997 Ranger XLT 4.0 4x4 that I special ordered, I could not find a new Ranger even close to the 1997 in capability and nothing for under $35K. All were HEAVILY optioned and dealer added-on with tech stuff, and "street-look" off-road bling. It is a choice between a fleet-type level work truck or ultra-optioned. So I moved on.

Wife now wants a Maverick trucklet (my term for any unibody truck), preferably 4WD or AWD. As she wants to add a cap, the Maverick is a big contender as great fiberglass caps are available from our preferred cap maker for Mavericks. She is also now considering a Hybrid version.

Still have the '97, but it is no longer a daily driver and a neighbor is making offers for a complete as is type deal for a project he has in mind.

I have a young friend who just finished his welding apprenticeship. He is making $55/hour. If his body holds out and he is smart with his income he could be retired in 20 years, which would put him under 50 years old. Wish I had been that smart...

Just wait until he gets married and pops out a couple puppies. That 20 year plan turns into a 50 year plan real quick.

Its hard to keep on track with the same plan you made when your were 19 or 25 when you are 35 or 40. Even if it was a really good plan.

Things change real quick when you are that age, better or worse.

Kiddo might forgo sowing the proverbial wild oats. Lots of folks are deciding not to have kids nowadays..

I really wouldn't mind having a little mini-me... But with the way the world is going.. I'm not sure I could bring myself to force someone to deal with all the current and future BS that's going to be thrown at us in good conscious.

Already 35... So I'm quickly running out of the ideal window of which to being another life into this world.. well see.

I have a relatively close knit family.. my decade+ younger cousins are having kids and I have a supremely quality nephew.. they might be all I need to "scratch the itch" so to speak.

Good. The bed in the picture looked next to useless. The first thing that crossed my mind was that the current version of the Ranger uses a frame based on the Bronco. So, one truck would be stealing market share from the other, possibly causing both to fail from not enough demand.

Kind of like the Tesra Cyber "Truck".

I don't have children. I didn't want to bring children into a world of imminent nuclear catastrophic war. That never happened...
Funny tho, my brother and sister both also never had children. My family line ends with us...
