What happend to country music?

^ your wating on the Leafs to win the cup? MY Blues have NEVER won a cup!!LOL JK Yeah country has started to go south{as in bad} for me.I HATE Taylor Swift w an unbridled passion!! Whoever told her that she could sing NEEDS to be shot in the face!! And that stupid Lady Atebellum song drives me freaking INSANE!! I have TWO so called "country" stations where I live and one has played nothing but freaking xmas music since NOV 1!! and the other only plays that Lady A and Taylor Swift crap and it is the SAME FREAKING CRAP EVERY TWO HOURS!!What ever happened to Alan Jackson, Randy Travis,Johnny Ca$h and the like?

To show you how out of the modern country loop I am, it was only a couple months ago that I discoverd Lady Antebellum and Taylor Swift were country musicians. I thought Lady Antebellum was a pop star (must be the "Lady" part of her name that confused me) and that Taylor Swift was a porn star. Taylor Swift sounds like a porn star name to me.

New country can be good, but the source you have chosen sucks. Search for Reckless Kelly, Hayes Carll, Robbie Fulks, Steve Earl, Roger Allen Wade, ect...


These guys are cranking out new stuff that is awesome. Hell, even Gretchen Wilson came over to doing more traditional stuff. Kind of like how Christina Aguilera bailed on the typical pop crap and started showcasing her real vocal ability...

Emmylou Harris and Gillian Welch. I like the folk side of country. Radio stations that claim to be country are on the other side of the field. I've heard some great music on Prairie Home Companion, but that's just a two-hour weekend program, on some public radio stations. For a while I was a regular listener of Vinyl Cafe, on CBC Sunday mornings. I don't know if that's still on.

There are a few country singers nowadays i consider country, Randy Houser, Toby keith, Justin moore, Brad paisley (hes kinda hit or miss), George strait, etc, but they dont get the air play that these "poptry" bands do.

I would LOVE to personally rip up keith urbans record contract, eat it, and then puke it back on him.

At least the Blues have made it to the playoffs since the year 2000...lol...

As for Christmas music in November, it should be law to ban it till at least after Thanksgiving (I know in Canada it's in October)...I think parents are marketed out as it is...to give them an extra week or two of Christmas-marketing is cruel and unusual punishment or treatment...

As for the older country stars, I think they step aside once their dogs or their wife comes home...

Its sad that the Blues and the LA Kings are the only two teams from the 67 NHL expansion that have NOT won a cup I totally agree that the xmas music should only start AFTER thanksgiving!!Hell I even hate it when the trees and lights go up before thanksging!! I have NO idea why, but I think it has something to do with the turkeys flying south for the winter...lol

Actually, it coincides somewhat with crop harvests, but there is a long history of it being changed for various reasons...it only became an annual celebration around 1879 and was officially changed to the second week in October in 1957 (all this according to Wikipedia)...

The celebrations I remember from childhood always had something to do with Pilgrims, Mayflowers, and Native Americans...like the first Thanksgiving in the USA...but that's been changed from what I understand...cornucopias and turkeys...oh, and pumpkin pie with pecans...YUM...
