What happend to country music?

I finally broke down and got a sirus satelitte radio....

Anyways, they ahve a station on there dedicated to 90's country, WTF happend to country music?

All the country nowadays absoutly sucks compared to that of the 1990-1998 or so era, after that it started seriously going down hill, i credit people like Keith Urban, Rascall flats, Taylor swift, and the like for killing it.

I feel your pain. I, too, have noticed this downward trend. Like mentioned, it has too much pop in it, or rather it has become pop, and pop has become dance music/rap.

I used to be a big fan of modern country music, I don't turn to those same stations anymore, I think it was sometime after the death of Johnny Cash and Chris LeDoux.

I like the classic country, but the 90's mullet and tri colored shirt country is where its at....for me at least.

Honky tonk attitude, watermelon crawl...i could go on and on.

Outlaw country may be more your liking. They have a great blend of classic country right up to new country in the old fashion.

I like all ranges of Country. Some groups are not to my taste but I listen to Classic Country, 90's country (which is not Classic Country) and the latest stuff. I would certainly prefer to listen to Taylor Swift rather than rap music any day. Actually, I like most forms of music but Country is my favorite.

I liked 90's country, but after it started going the direction it is I burned myself out on the 90's stuff.

Pretty all I listen to now is rock/pop stuff.

If you aren't hearing what you want to hear blame fellow subscribers.

Or yourself for not requesting what you want.

Frankly I listen to Octane and that hasn't changed from what I can tell from the XM merger

I like some country music, but I probably haven't actively (or passively) listened to or tuned to a country station in years...my favourite of all time was CFGM 1310 Country Radio...

When I drove through the USA to FL a few times around Christmas I had choices of either Country or Christmas music, and sometimes a combination of both...Country Christmas songs...

However, back to the point...is the reason why I started recording my own CDs and cassettes...it became too frustrating trying to filter out the irritating announcers, ads, and news breaks...

If they'd only make a CD where the Leafs win the Stanley Cup in 16 straight games...with whatever music in the background to fill in the intermissions...then I'd be happy...

I kind of liked that Lady Antebellum song at first, but they drove it in the ground on country stations and then after it "crossed over" they drove it in the ground again there.

Sooo it was drove in the ground twice.

Now I just surf stations websites looking for new songs, give them a whirl or three on Napster to see if they grow on me and if I like them, I buy then, stick them on a fash drive and have hours of commercial free music.

My brother got Sirrus for 6 months for free on his new Mustang. We tried it when we took it up to South Dakota, there was a lot of surfing until we found a song that we liked, and when it was over it went back to crap we didn't care for. So we surfed again until we found another song we liked. Pretty much listened to like the same 5 songs over and over, we went back to the MP3 player and he is bummed he has a soon to be dead button on his radio.
