i just got a 03 ranger with a 2.3 and five speed. it is 2 wheel drive with 33's what would be a good gear. thanks for any help

As deep as you can find. 5.13s? Just take the tire height of the original tires and divide them into the tire height of the new tires and multiply the result by your current gear set. So if it came with 27" tires and you are going to 33" tires that's 1.22X your current gearing. If you have 3.73s then you want 4.56s. If you have 4.10s you will want the 5.13s.

There are some gearing suggestions that can be found right here. They can also be found in the Tech Library as well.

4.88 is best for 33s on a 2.3L.

4.88's sound about right.
