Hey everyone, I just picked up my Ranger yesterday, saved it from a sure death, and from what I've read I want to do the Duraspark upgrade. What should I do first? Any input is welcome, Thanks

If it was me and a new truck I would change all fluids and filters, change plugs and wires. Look at breaks, also lube anything that is suppose to be lubed at any point.

Also do a really good job cleaning. Wash and wax and look in all the cracks for rust or anything out of place.

Then start driving it and see what else doesn't seem right and fix along the way.

Thanks

Hey thanks for the reply. You are right about that stuff, and that was my plan too, I was just seeing if there was some input about the duraspark upgrade.

I personally would do a compression test and make sure the rings are in good shape. No use in spending money if you can afford or don't want to rebuild the bottom of the engine. These 2.8l engines are known to wear out valve guides so don't worry if the top of the engine is not perfect. With that said get a holley 350 cfm carb and do the Duraspark up grade.
