That is certainly a matter of opinion. I have never heard a high revving farm tractor but have heard many different ones and maybe a four cylinder Ranger with a loud exhaust comes close but not a V6.I think all aftermarket offerings for any V6 sound great at idle. Rev them up that all sound like farm tractors. Infinity G35 excluded. Stay stock with the exhaust.
I think the stock exhaust on a 4.0 SOHC engine sounds absolutely terrible at full throttle. It has this hiss/whoosh sound that should not come out of any vehicle.
The first thing I did to my Ranger when I bought it new was to upgrade to a Gibson SS single side swept cat back exhaust. It is relatively quite but I can still hear a true exhaust note throughout the rpm range. Many people would consider it too quite but it suits me just fine. I use to drive a 2.9L Ranger that would set off car alarms. I like the quieter Gibson better.
My Gibson has over 100,000 miles on it now and shows no signs of failing but is somewhat discolored. I expect it to still be working well when I hit the 300,000 mile mark.
