On my 99 I lost the wheel bearing unit. Acctually it grenaded but thats a different story.

Behind that bearing assembly is a heavy rubber gasket of sorts. Well it was pretty tore up from the hub going out and needs replaced.

What exactly would this be called? I cant find it in the shop manual, NAPA doesnt have a clue what I'm talking about, and I', not seing it on the forums. So whats the acctualy name of this O-ring

Its the big one on the very outside.

what you need there is the rear knuckle seal. it seals the knuckle so that vacuum can apply it. i think its a dealer only part tell you the truth.i belive there's a tsb to replace those for a noise. i'd have to go look it up

from the picture of the part on autozone.com it looks like the whole bearing unit is one piece and it doesn't mention a seal so I would guess that the seal is included or see if there is an exploded diagram of the front hub available at the dealership to see if there is a seal there

the bearing is a unit. but there is a vacuum seal in there to seal up the hub for the PVH hubs. i know i work for ford

Ok, I'll try an run the VIN tomorrow

Just a thought, If that seal's purpose is so the vaccume can be made. And I convert over to manual hubs, will that seal even be an issue?

i was always wondering what those were called, i was gonna replace them because they were pretty torn up.
