So I'm looking at possibly a thrush welded muffler for the ranger. I went into a dealer today(speedy) and they said 240 bucsk for just muffler. rip-offs! Anyways, they're on ebay for 40 bucsk. What's a good setup, inlet/outlet aragments, centre in/dual out side pipes?. Hopefully I can get my hands on a 2 1/4 or 2 1/2 in and out there's just so damn much and get it just right, I dont wanna end up buying the wrong arranged muffler and crap, so any 4.0ers with performance exhaust, how did you have it done?

I had gutted cats (very illegal) but if you hide the welds it will pass. Then I had 3 feet of pipe with a 4 inch tip out in front of the rear tire. But I was going for raw noise...scare you kids inside the house noise.

2foot dump bolted right to the y pipe.

A welded thrush with intact cats will sound nice. It will be pretty mellow but still have some bark when you step on it. That's what I have on my 4.0 exploder (except I rigged it up with dual tailpipes) and I like it alot. Without cats it will be a little over the top if you're used to a stock muffler. I for one hate the sound of a glass pack on a 4/6 cylinder, and even on a modern V8. Chambered or stock is the only way I'll go.

Just busted the seam open and air chiseled out everything that wasn't the case and then rolled it back up and welded it along the seam. I flipped it over so the welds were facing the floor and you couldn't tell anything happened.
