What does Ford think the Maverick is for?

I like to look under the truck and see a couple fairly massive beams. But that's me.

Yeah when (probably not if) the economy tanks hopefully we won't be seeing Carvana trying to get $25k for a 2011 Ranger.
I (personally of course) hate that. The bottom of the body should be no higher than the bottom of the frame. Lifts should always increase ground clearance.

Nothing should really be lower than the frame.

It's one of my favorite parts about the new rangers.. behind the motor there isn't hardly a single thing lower than the frame. No brackets, no crossmembers, no really important things like the t-case.. you could almost skidplate the entire thing with plain flat sheet.

Agree there. As long as you have to crouch down to see it.

I actually confused this thread with one talking about a lifted truck when I posted that *is there no face palm emoji?*

Well.... it's too late. You changed the direction of the thread, now you need to deal with the consequences.

The US actually has no pedestrian safety standards. Instead of implementing standards for pedestrian safety, the NHTSA chooses to educate pedestrians on how not to get run over:

And big trucks aren't sold in any meaningful numbers anywhere else in the world that would have standards that influence their design.

The styling of trucks has a lot to do with marketing and image as well as massive capability. If you want to have rated payload capacity over 2k lbs in a half ton truck then you need to have suspension travel. If you want massive towing capacity, then you need lots of frontal area for bigger heat exchangers. So there's some amount of justification for larger, taller trucks but so much of it is just about making buyers feel more macho.
American trucks and vans are sold in surprising places, even in Europe, but usually in small numbers. Despite the small sales numbers, they still have to meet the rules, including pedestrian impact safety.

Which is why we have the abomination that is the transit.

Just my opinion

None of those cargo/people carriers are nice to look at... but they sure are handy. They all look like they came backwards out of a printer and when it got to the B pillar, they yanked it out.

I always liked the Econolines. Espicially the 75-91 models

The GMC Vanduras/Beauvilles were sharp too

The Transit is ugly as sh!t, but it’s got a low deck height and is easy to load.

But its like comparing cat vomit to dog shit.

This should be in the quote thread but I dont know how so it includes rusty's name.

Well I got hammered about the beams underneath so... I guess I do see the advantage of having basically one huge skid plate underneath.
