What Do You Hate About Your Ranger???

I hate that it is in Brazil and not here in the good ol usa! Don't get me wrong, I like my Jeep, but I don't love it like I love my Ranger Quad cab, 3.0 powerstroke!

Just urious, how'd you get your quad cab into the states? I was reading up on a ranger turned into a quad cab on ranger motorsports site... Said it's a pain to do. I never will understand why some really nice spinoff models are only sold in other countries, yet from American companies.

!st gen

Hey hey hey, don't be hatin on the first gen body style.

I don't hate the 1st gen body style, in fact I prefer it over all the other RBV styles. It's just that the packerhedd who I bought it from drove through a barbwire fence, then got mad and took a sledgehammer and an axe to the fenders... Needless to say it is rather ugly in it's current state of repair. I am actually trying to hunt up 2 more 1st or 2nd gen rangers to make into a crew cab. The sporttrac is just to chubby lookin' for my taste, and I have grown quite fond of the TTB front end. It has pretty good articulation, rides and drives well, and has only about 1/2 the moving parts of an a- arm/torsion bar setup. With the suspension all stock with 235/75/15 tires. On a back road where I take my kids rabbit hunting there is a rock shelf which 5 of the last 6 vehicles I have owned scraped bottom going down, and I always take a different road back out for fear of getting hung up going over it up hill. The '57 chevy with 33s 4" lift on a 75 suburban frame/axles body had to sit about 8" above the frame, it was so tall my wife had hell getting in, it went both ways easy, and so does the stock ranger which she also can get in and out of easily. So despite the shape mine is in I really do like the 1st gen rangers!

That I bought it pre-built. So I'm still trying to figure out what is what. And since it's about 5 trucks put together, it's gonna be damn near impossible when I finally do a v8 swap.

I don't hate my Ranger, now that some things have been fixed. I've been through so many of the same issues anyone with a first gen 2.9 has had and learned so much from here, thanks TRSer's.

Actually, I guess I was hatin' on the issues not the truck. I've customized it to my liking and anything that goes wrong is most likely my fault for lack of maintenance, hard use or a combination of things

Bogart, I wish you were closer. I'll have a std cab and an xcab this spring.

That does add a fun challenge to it. :icon_thumby:

No 4 cyl. diesel engine option, and no access doors on my supercab because Ford doesn't offer it with a 4 cyl. (stupid)

Which part? Every part? I agree.

Mostly the challenge part, not the fun part.

By application and what I have ripped off of other vehicles (after swap), mine comprises about 15 vehicles. I sat down and made a list while I could remember to have record of it for down the road if I need something.

Drives parts guys nuts though :icon_thumby:

OH, I know about that.. Lol

When they ask year and model, I tell them what the cab is (the titled part) and I forget that the axles, motor/trans, frame are all from different trucks.

DOOR AJAR
-rust (i guess its a regional/previous owner thing though)

I don't hate anything, just really annoyed by some things.

On my 84' it was the cup holders... WTF were they thinking?

On my 99' it is the open diff and rear seats, but I got a L/S 8.8" and I just removed the rear seats.

The fact that I just changed the valve cover gaskets 13k miles ago when I did the head gaskets and they're leaking already...
