What Do You Hate About Your Ranger???

Road noise and ride height. Two easily curable issues. Sound deadener coming soon, and I'm going to lower the truck about an 1" as soon as I get my hands on a set of 08-up rear leaf blocks.

room in a short cab...which was fixed later on...but my 94 sucks inside

Hate is a strong word...I love my Ranger and i couldn't ask anymore from it.
mileage-great
ride-great
cup holders-great
power-great

I don't like the fact that my headlights lenses are yellowing and dim, but i'd have to say that is the only thing about my ranger i'm not happy with and Rangers aren't the only vehicles with that issue.
Things i'd have on another truck that wasn't purchased when this one was bought.
4wd, larger engine, cruise control, power windows and locks, and an extended cab.
Honestly I love my Ranger it does all I ask it to do so I can't HATE it for not having or doing what I want it to do when I bought it the way that it is. That is like buying a refrigerator to cook things in or buying a BB gun to hunt deer with.... it just isn't going to work or do what you ask of it.

hmmm....

Well Though it's not too much of an issue I'm always paranoid of the old Al4D going or my heads cracking. Other than that, I some kind of bang in the back when I go around corners and hit a bump (opened the dif to do some work and all is well in the diff)

Overall though, I love it. I love the 2.9 even though it's slow and may blow its own heads one day. Can complain getting 20 mpg on stock 373's and running 30" tires either.

Oh and how about not having cup holders?????

I hate that it is in Brazil and not here in the good ol usa! Don't get me wrong, I like my Jeep, but I don't love it like I love my Ranger Quad cab, 3.0 powerstroke!

engine breaks to easy. shlda got a chevy

Well in a Chevy you would have to deal with tie rods, ball joints, rust, starter, expensive to lift easy to brake, Bad brakes, door hinges, door handle, engine sensers, reliability, A/C pully, head gasket, water pump, cheap interiors braking. Difficult to fix anything. But atleast you have some nice rear springs. Theres a reason parts are cheap and easy to find.

TRE's were about ready to fall apart, radius arm bushings are shot, lifting still isn't cheap if you buy a decent new kit, starter sounded like a mad squirrel and would frequently stick on, both interior door handles broke, factory 2.8 had sensors on top of sensors on a carb (fun-fun :shok:) as reliable as you could throw it, A/C never worked, head gaskets were ok, water pump was a MAJOR PITA to change, "Custom" interior so little to break aside from the forementioned door handles. Springs on all four corners are shot too.

My grandfather's '89 S-10 might have more rust (it wasn't rolled and redone either) but before I ripped mine all apart it would run circles around my truck in every way imaginable.

Did your outside and inside door handle just fall off in your hand, and your hinges got so bad you had to lift the door to close it, and your A/C pully sound like a chain saw. Or maybe your ABS senser got so screwed up it would prevent the wheels for stopping on dry pavement. And no matter how many times you fixed something the check engine light is always on. There was always a rattle coming from somewhere in the front suspension. your seat adjustment pull broke, the doors panel cracked from pulling on it. the seat adjusstment broke all together so you had to ride on the dash. the starter is mounted so close to the manifold that the starter and/or wires will over heat and stop working.

Oh well I've had less problems with any ford I've owned than any other gm, dodge, or import. her GM was a serious money pit and almost killed us when the ABS sensor would let us stop the car on dry pavement and a dealership sales man almost drove it into the show room when we failed to mention it to him. We traded for a ford and all i've had to do was replace a O2 senser.

BTW it's not the starters fault it stick on that was the silonoid. Don't buy replacement electrical parts from autozone or advanced.

Inside door handles fell apart (glued one and replaced the other with a JY handle)
A/C pulley was ok but the compressor didn't compress (removed all traces of A/C from engine bay)
no ABS available on a '85 (:yahoo:)
No check engine light on a '85, it would have been on though (:shok:)
I did happen to have a rattle up front, not sure what or if it is still there (hard to tell with a 302 and open headers at the moment) :icon_confused::D
Seat adjustment works, but original seat broke two springs so it felt like you were driving while sitting on a toilet seat (:annoyed:)
DS door panel front edge cracked and loosing stuffing (not a big deal, still trying to find a decent used one)
Ring gear was shot so starter was ungodly loud and would stick the relay require me to pop the hood, jump out and pull a battery cable so the relay could open. Was also hard on starters (removed engine)
Was as cold blooded as all get out and struggled to get double digit gas milage. (removed engine)
A4LD lost every gear but forward, replaced with JY unit.

Point is, they all break, and they can all be fixed. :icon_thumby:
