I found this "Sploder today and went and looked at it..
http://seattle.craigslist.org/sno/cto/1063770540.html

It looks really solid, the interior is just about spotless. Looks pretty good mechanically too, except there is/was some fluid on the tranny around the seam between the main case and the tail housing. I felt it and it was dry, but it had leaked at one point. I'm thinking I'll check the fluid as I'll more than likely look at it again. The pinion seal on the rear is leaking a little, but I don't care since I'm not using that axle.

The owner bought it 11 years ago and a little while after swapped in a junkyard motor that had the top end rebuilt. He did the clutch then too and he's put 60,000 miles on it since, so I'm not too worried about the engine having too many miles. He doesn't know how many miles were on the motor when he swapped it in, but I'm not thinking too many. It fired up pretty easily, and one of the lifter ticks intermittently, at least when cold. It's got a 1354M and manual hubs.

The clearcoat is peeling a little bit on one corner of the hood, there is a scrape on the passenger's side by the rear bumper, a small crease on the driver's rear door that's kinda hard to see and another small one in the driver's front fender. There's also a good sized crack in the windshield.

I'm gonna wait a few days, and if I don't find anything else I was thinking I'd offer him $900. Thoughts?

$700-800 cash. wife says it has to go..... isnt that always the case?

Yeah, that's how I got my Ranger, the guy's wife said something had to go. $1200 is a pretty damn good deal as good as the interior is, especially with manual trans and hubs... but the body does have a few dings....

Sounds like it could be fixed up pretty easy. Might see if he'll take 1000 just for the heck of it, after all, it does have 204K on it.

tell him you have $900 cash and with these hard times most people will rip your arm off :)

I would buy it. Manual trans and all? Hell Yeah.

I paid $1000 for my explorer sport it was the same format as the one in the 1st post. I bet he'd swing 800$. go for it, 4.0's have bulletproof bottom ends....

OK, I'm thinking I'll offer $800 but bring $1000. I'll run a compression check too, and list all the things I found wrong with it. Don't want to be too insulting, but I don't want to pay $1200...

There's no question that I want this one, it's just how much I should pay.

Yeah, but they're better than 2.9s and I killed 2 of those in like 8 months.... lol.

Going back down this afternoon to check it out again, and will more than likely come home with it. :icon_thumby:

18 year old truck, over 200k, manual trans, cloth seats. Way overpriced at $1,200.:)shady
