hey, im soon going to start a full chassis build and im just going through some ideas and was wondering what u guys think of this one?

just wanted to see what u guys think. starting next week im trying to build the best truck i can and also as cheep as i can. HARD I KNOW!. but i don't think it cant be done. ill be building 99% of the truck to save from paying ppl to do it for me . id rather build it anyway. but yess i have thought about getting coil overs, that might be the way i go.

For the record, I dont think your get full extension from your springs and you wont get full compression from your shocks. You need to find a way to mount them side by side or completely opposite like most stock setups, being one in front of the other is just gonna mess you up too bad. The ladder bar part of the drawing looks pretty cool though if you could modify it to be practical.

This is completely do-able. It is old school technology though, and no, you will not get large travel numbers like you will with coilovers. If you are worried about costs of the coilovers, check out F-O-A.com, they are much more practical on prices

if you do run this set up what shocks and coils would you be running. and what would you be paying for those shocks and coils.

in my though F-O-A coilovers would be your best bet. you would be getting better technology for a little more money.

i have not really thought about what coil i would be running yet, it was just an idea.( any ideas?).as for a shock i was thinking about the bilstein 5150 series.

this truck wont be used really rough just a few trails and small sand pits. Im only looking for around 15" of travel 20" at the vary most.

From the other truck you have built, it looks as though a 3/4 link is far too complicated for your experience of fab work. Stick with a pack of national springs or deaver springs. I am pulling 18" of travel with my deavers.

all i can say is don't think i cant fab just buy looking at that truck, like i said that wasn't purpose built for anything.. but i definitely am goin with a 3-4 link . I will be posting as i go along so every one can give me there opinion and advice as i go.

I know it has been said many times. But IMO coilovers will be the best and easist way to go.

its been done before,back in the day. Perry McNeil use to back when C/O's were waaaaayyyy costly.


If your dead set on doing this,try to talk with perry about it what spring he used etc.

thanks man for the advice, here is a new pics of the set up i want on my truck built my perry McNeil sr ( so the sites say anyway). Im still not sure what kind of spring they use though, anybody have any ideas on what they use or what would work?. thanks
