OKey lots and lots of qustions here. I sold my bagged s10 and goin to bulid my ranger. Tell me what i'm looking for in parts wise.
I'm wanting to big block this thing, I'm thinking a 460, 5spd and manual tcase. I would be better off usein a 302 but i'm wanting that wow factor. Im getting a set of 38s off a buddie. I'm not sure on what axle i'm looking for. I don't really want to go real wide I ride tight trails. I'm going to be useing leafs front and back. Just more simple. Allso planeing to tuggy, With a leaf spring rig is it any better to cut off at cab and start over. Help me out here guys got a guy with the motor trans and t case

Not really sure how to help you out here other than knowing the 460 is going to require a lot of work in the engine compartment to get enough space for it to fit, you are going to have to piece and part pretty much everything together for that, you'll definitely need some heavy duty axles and springs.

Hopefully someone with better knowledge of this will see this soon and give you better direction.

One thing to keep in mind start taking pictures and writing up what you do step by step, once you complete it submit it to the tech section for a write up.

think pirate... go to pirate and read..

I'd rock a 14 bolt rear and 60 front, kingpins are nice but a balljoint 60 will work.
For big block and 38's+... I'd for sure go 1 tons.

First of all, you need a big "attaboy!" for getting rid of the S10.

Second of all, the two guys above have some pretty good points. it has been done, there are a few on here that have done it, cant think of their screen names at the moment... but I would imagine that you will also need to box and strengthen the frame quite a bit to take the weight and torque of the 460.

Nah... The narrower Ranger chassis will articulate better.

If it were me, I'd put at least an 8pt cage in the Ranger, then swap the drivetrain and powertrain over.

The cage, if built right, will stiffen the chassis enough to handle the torque, and tire loads.

I know this is going to need ALOT of work. But I just want something so wile and awomse. No I don't need anything near this big for the wheeling around here but I can have it. And on the parts truck I got a late 70s earley 80s with stright axles and the 460 drive train.
And on getting rid of the s10, Kinda sad was my old highschool truck I started to bulid a show truck out of but the body was rotted frame tweeked. Just needed WAY to much. So I said it's gotta go I need to focase on my new truck (toyota needing a backhalf) and bulid my dream ranger.

Okey been rethinking this, I may just do a smaller bulid. I still want to v8 it, my 3.0 is crap and has never ran right in this truck it's way to under powerd. So i'm thinkin doing the a carbed 5.0. I stil want to sas it tho so I'd say i'll be goin with the dana 44 and run my 34"s that is brand new. I want this truck to set low as possible. I don't mind cuttin. Allso want to bulid a truggy back half. If I keep the leaf springs would I be better off buliding back with square tubeing or just bobin the stock stuff.

The lowest you can sas is 6" maybe 4" of lift. And engine crossmember trimming, and bump stops are required.
