What did YOU do today?

I have one of the 01 powerdome style Ranger hoods that was intended for my green Ranger that I intended on putting holes in to make it a sort of cowl induction. Haven’t quite figured out what I want to try for the Choptop or F-series trucks yet, I think a spacer looks a little tacky for daily use

The overheated engine bay goes into knowledge I just don’t have, but I did have a thought when I was reading this. I don’t remember what the original problem was, but you feel heat in the engine bay is causing the truck to run funny. If you do the spacers on the hood, I would think that’s very easy to do, and you could do it temporarily to see if it solves the problem. If it does, you can come up with an alternative you like better. But if you start with a lot of fabrication and modification for the alternative, and find out that wasn’t the problem, well, welcome to my world.

This is a valid point that I have considered. I’d need to get some longer metric bolts and figure out a spacer.

On my Choptop the problem is the fuel lines heating up because there’s no factory insulation protecting them anymore and I have headers. I have a line on some insulation to use on the fuel lines, I just don’t have the stuff yet because things have happened and I haven’t been able to afford it. I’ve also noticed that once my electric fan kicks on, it never shuts off. Either it’s not moving enough air or my engine bay is staying hot.

On the F-150, I don’t know exactly what the problem is. Everything seems to be functioning but it’s acting like it’s getting heat soaked. This is a newer issue for it. Unfortunately the truck has so many issues that I don’t see much value in trying to do much to it, I’d rather spend my time and money trying to get the F-350 fixed because it’s arguably more valuable to me right now. The F-150 will get rebuilt later. Unfortunately I need to get the shop done and the green Ranger done before I can get back to the F-350.

For fuel lines, I'd see about picking up some the factory insulation on the clutch hose from the junkyard next time I was there...

Took the family down to the creek to go swimming. Unfortunately there was a dead raccoon floating in the creek right were we climb down into the water.

Put a damper on the mood.

But hey, free lunch!

Went & spent time with Mrs. Truck's family. Yours truly is a big hit with Li'l Nephew Truck. 🥰 He was my fireworks watching buddy this evening. Not even 4 yet. 😁

I removed the “efi” & left side fender badges from the 150, right side fender badges were missing when I bought the truck with only the glue residue remaining. Im planning on doing a brush-on urethane clear later (poppys patina) & needed to clean it up, can get new emblems on fleabay. Have a couple of bedside 1974 emblems I might put on afterwards. The heat needs to back way off before putting the coating on, but can do some prep now.
At some point Im also going to have the underside fluid-filmed, though I am really hoping to just keep it in the garage over winter & let the escape corrode in the road salt bath, but never know if something will happen to it eventually.

After the storms blew through...

Went to my daughter's new house.

Food... I'd guess you can figure out who showed up with the fire roasted salsa marinated chicken. Grilled and chopped up for tacos with all the fixing. Big hit! You'd have thought they had not eaten in days.

Family... it's really what it's all about. I bet i took a dozen pictures while grandma was wrangling toddlers... these grand kids didn't come with a STOP button.

Was a good day...

Pulling the IM (again) on daughter's Focus. Replaced PCV hose with Dorman, it blew after a couple months. Getting motorcraft this time. Luckily, it's not a terrible pull, just close quarters.

Changed the oil in the wife's Pacifica. The filter is a cannister type that's right on top of the engine.
Easy peezy.
Also gave it a wash and vacuumed the inside.
Then washed the Ranger.
Then I mowed the back yard.
All this in 97* temps.
Sweat is good for you, it cleans out the pores.
Drank many iced teas.

Finish tweaking my hoist brackets for my truck.

Without that leg it was too wobbly. The paint is drying as we speak.
